MAC Cult of Cherry

Cult of Cherry is a huge and hugely anticipated release, most prominently featuring dark, vampy lips (doesn’t this trend come around every fall?).

The untold story of CoC, however, is that the eyeshadow quads are of unexpectedly excellent quality. Several of the colors are repeats from the permanent line (Tempting, Shadowy Lady, Deep Truth) and several are repromotes (Nanogold, Next to Nothing, Dark Edge), but — just like with the Overrich pigments — these are smoother and nicer than their predecessors. Cult of Cherry officially releases August 21.

    >Someone should be paying you for swatching- no one does it better! Nothing is calling my name, so I think I will deal with this collection by avoiding the MAC counter *puts blinders on* :-D

  • KarlaSugar says:

    >If anyone volunteers, I will not refuse! :)

  • noshihunny says:

    >The glosses look kind of gritty. Is that glitter?

Thanks for the swatches as always :)

Very nice beauty blog you have here. Found your blog after searching information for makeup reviews. Thanks for the great information!

My name is Irene and I’m involved in an online beauty community website called I was hoping that you would have a minute to check out the site and perhaps if you liked what you saw… write about it on your blog? If not, then perhaps we can swap links to help each other?

I may be going out on a limb by asking you for promotional help through your blog, but I hope you find to be as news worthy/helpful as I perceive it to be. There’s still a lot of work to be done with it, but I’m working on it. It’s hard to compete when you’re a small fish in a huge sea with huge sites like MUA and the likes, but I do what I can :) My favorite part of the site is the ‘critic’s corner’ where members can review or read up on various product reviews for makeup and skincare. Then there’s always the forum, the photo gallery, the ask a makeup artist page, etc.

    Thanks for your time :)

    >noshihunny, Liqueur and Cherry Blossom all have “surface” sparkle, but the other three have deep, subtle sparkle, too.

cuteirka, thanks for dropping by! I’ll check out your site.

    >i can see myself caving on one blush and one shadow quad. i think the dark lips are too dark for someone of my advancing age. pewp.

  • Heather says:

    >Hi – I was wondering what your thoughts were on the ‘O’ lipstick. It looks pretty in your swatches, but I am pretty fair skinned and I was wondering – is it more for someone with a darker skintone?

    Thanks – love your blog!

  • KarlaSugar says:

    >Thanks, Heather! My feeling is that all these lippies are for someone with lipstick preferences a little bolder than mine. Did you ever try Sci Fi Delity from Neo Sci-Fi? What’d you think of that one? My feeling is that the effect will be similar (even if the colors aren’t exactly the same).

  • Heather says:

    >Thanks Karla. Hmm I did not try Sci Fi Delity, but I get what you are saying as they do look somewhat similar.

What did you end up getting from this collection?

  • KarlaSugar says:

    >I love the quads, but I decided to forego Cult of Cherry and splurge on Overrich (love those pigments so much!).
