MAC Mineralized Skinfinish (MSFs)

Special thanks to guest swatcher Memememe, Princess of the Mineralized Skinfinish, who went to superhuman lengths to assemble and swatch MAC’s entire collection of MSFs (baked blushes, highlighters, and bronzers). There have certainly been a few MSFs (Stereo Rose and Petticoat spring to mind) that touched off a total mineralized fever.*

She says they can be used as blush, highlighter, bronzer — even eyeshadow, depending on the shade. Like Cabbage Patch Kids, every MSF is unique (a result of the baking process, which creates swirls and veins of color).

Now, as far as I know, all MSFs are shimmery or sparkly — and the only complaint I’ve really heard about them is that some of them contain too-large sparkles, or have a metallic finish. (And this finish can accentuate pores for some.) If you usually use bronzer to contour, you probably don’t want to use something sparkly or frosty because it will draw attention to itself — use it instead for a bit of warmth of color.

Soft and Gentle and Gold Deposit are currently part of MAC’s permanent collection, and are $25 each. Memememe also warns that MSFs are more fragile than normal pressed blushes, and should be handled carefully when shipping, traveling, or moving.

Today’s pictures were taken indoors. To see outdoor pictures of Petticoat, So Ceylon, and Soft and Gentle, click here. To see outdoor pictures of Soft and Gentle, Gold Deposit, and So Ceylon, click here.

MAC really hit a winner with their MSF colors.
I love my Lightscapade so much that if something happened to it I would be lost in makeup routine for days maybe even months.
