Stila Eyeshadow, Part 4

Stila, swatches, Heather, Mystic, Bouquet, Dune, Eden, Champara

Today we'll get into Stila's matte neutral shades. Most Sephora locations organize their Stila eyeshadow singles in three groups: "eyeshadow," "eye bases" (which they use to refer to Chinois, Bouquet, Dune, and Eden), and "matte eyeshadows." The distinction between eye bases and matte eyeshadows seems unnecessary.

Heather is sparkly pink; Mystic is sparkly blue-green. Chinois is matte yellow-white; Bouquet is

Stila Eyeshadow, Part 3

Moment of honesty: I can't remember anything without pictures. I started posting about Stila eyeshadows a while ago, but I let myself get interrupted by waves of seasonal collections. And now when I want to look up some Stila eyeshadow, it's always one of the not-yet-published ones. Time to finish posting about these! (I'll finish with a

Rock and Republic Blush, Part 3

RnR blush 3 (Medium)

These are the last four Rock & Republic blushes, and woah, momma! are they bright. All are matte: Tease is a cool, slightly mauvey pink (see NARS Mata Hari); Kinky is a cooler, brighter pink (see NARS Desire); X-Rated is fuchsia; Immoral is fluorescent, construction vest orange.

Rock and Republic Blush, Part 1

RnR blush 1 (Medium)

We recently took a look at the eyeshadow offerings of luxury rockstar brand Rock & Republic, and I guess they whet some appetites, because I received a number of requests to see more of the line.

R&R blushes remind me most of NARS: they are pigmented and have naughty names. R&R blushes are also huge, weighing in

Laura Mercier Lip Stains

I mentioned my affection for Laura Mercier Lipstains when I swatched her Gilded Garden collection. These aren't lipstains in the classical sense. They're "heavy balms:" high-pigment, moisturizing balms with light staining ability. Part of their longevity comes from the fact that you aren't tempted to rub your lips, but if you ate and wiped your mouth with a

Nude Skincare

I have a few favorite Sephora sales associates, and there's one in particular who always tells me what's new and great in her store (she tipped me off to the Cargo Essential Eye Palettes).

So when she was all excited about Nude Skincare's arrival, I got curious, though I hadn't heard of the brand before. The more

Lipstick Queen: Sinner Lipstick (+2)

Yesterday we looked at the Lipstick Saints, the "10% pigment" lipsticks from "lips-only" brand Lipstick Queen. The Saints' counterparts are the Sinners: same color ideas, same names, but in matte, full-coverage glory. If you need instant 40s glam, it's right here. To tell you the truth, I found the Sinners more interesting than the Saints.

About the bonus
