I don’t know what’s bigger news about Bobbi’s new Rich Color Gloss: the formula or the fact that this is the first doe’s foot applicator I can remember having seen from the line.
Bobbi’s website says they offer “the coverage of a lipstick, the soft shine of a gloss, and the luxurious feel of a balm.” One of the Bobbi sales associates said they’re long-wearing (I took that with a grain of salt) — does anybody own one of these yet and care to chime in?
I had thought that Rich Color Gloss was going to join the canon of liquid lipsticks we’ve talked about recently: Chanel’s Rouge Allure Laque, Laura Mercier’s Lip Velvets. Now I’m getting all philosophical and asking myself “what makes a liquid lipstick?” Does it have to dry down to a matte or semi-matte finish? Because now that I’ve swatched, I would call these full-coverage glosses.
Unlike the Rouge Allure Laques, the lighter colored Rich Color Glosses actually seem more opaque than the darker shades. As you can see, I had a little space left at the end of my arm and I was feeling artistic, so I did single swipes of Tutu, Naked, Ruby Red, and Merlot.
Rich Color Glosses are $20 each, and are a permanent addition to the line.
