MAC Magic, Mirth, and Mischief! – the non-paletted items

MAC, Magic, Mirth, Mischief, live, animatic, modelMAC’s holiday collection, Magic, Mirth, and Mischief! is incredibly expansive. We’ll start with the “loose” (unpaletted, unbundled) items, which MAC calls the “color collection.” MMM includes 6 mineralize eyeshadow (MES) duos, four lipsticks, three new dazzleglasses, three repromoted cremesheen glasses, a pair of new mineralize blushes, a pair of repromoted softsparkle eye pencils, a pair of nail polishes, and repromoted Pro Lash mascara (and we’re just getting started!)

MAC, Magic, Mirth, Mischief, displayI haven’t seen all the holiday collections yet, but if I could say one thing about holiday this year, it would be that purple is in. Of the six MES, four of them are purple. (Which makes you wonder what happened with the other two?)

Before I went to swatch these, someone wrote to me and said, “Karla, is it true these are the best, smoothest mineralize shadows ever?” Now that I’ve swatched them, yes, yes they are. The larger side of each eyeshadow duo is a fantastically smooth, pigmented shadow. The smaller “moon” shape is that pressed mineralize glitter that MAC loves to bring out for holiday. Since I swatch without a base, it doesn’t stick to my arm very well. I hate the stuff; it’s like a lustre squared. Some people love them though: people who love blingy shadow, who use them over a base (something a bit sticky/tacky, like a MAC paint), who maybe use them wet?
MAC, Magic, Mirth, Mischief, swatches, mineralize, eyeshadow, MES, Devil May Care, Midnight Madness, Under Your Spell, It's a Miracle, Mayhem, Blue SorceryDevil-May-Care is lilac / silver sparkle. Midnight Madness is silvered, blackened purple / gold sparkle. Under Your Spell is a light frosty violet / copper sparkle. It’s a Miracle is rich, goldened violet / gold sparkle. Mayhem is (slightly olivey) brown-gold / silver sparkle. Blue Sorcery is mermaid teal / silver sparkle. The MES are $19.50 each.
MAC, Magic, Mirth, Mischief, swatches, Pervette, Total Wow!, Surprise Me, Utter Fun, Jingle Jangle, She-Zam, Pfiff!, Partial to Pink, Boy Bait, Ever So Rich, dazzleglass, cremesheen glassThe lipsticks are $14 each. Pervette (Glaze) is a repromote from the permanent line. The other three are new and limited edition. Total Wow! (Glaze) is a blue berry rose. Surprise Me (Lustre) is a very pink pink-peach (guava). I know you’re all shocked that I love it. Utter Fun (Lustre) is bright, cool pink.

The three dazzleglasses are new shades, all limited edition. Jingle Jangle is peached pink with blue and pink sparkles. She-Zam is a very sheer/faint grey tint with mostly silver (and a few pink) sparkles. Pfiff! Is clear yellow with few sparkles (yellow and white). Dazzleglasses are $18 each.

The Cremesheen Glasses are shades we’ve seen before (the original Cremeteam), brought back for a second limited edition run. These probably wear a little more sheerly than they’re swatched here (especially Ever So Rich): I tried to make a heavy and a thin swatch, but they kind of ran together on my arm.
MAC, Magic, Mirth, Mischief, swatches, Superdupernatural, Conjure Up, mineralize, blush, softsparkle eye pencil, Nightsky, Iris Accents, $$$$$ Yes, Lucky NumberI’m sure I’m not alone in finding the mineralize blushes pretty darn exciting. Superdupernatural is a slightly browned, slightly pinked peach with subtle gold and pink sparkles. Conjure Up is plum with blue sparkles. These are heavy swatches. If you were to wear these, you’d never wear this much (I hope); you might even choose to apply with a skunk brush, most likely the 188 or the 131 from Colour Craft. Mineralize blushes are $21.

In the holiday spirit, I used Softsparkle Eye Pencil Nightsky to divide my blush swatches. Next to it is Iris Accents. We’ve seen both of these before, but they’re again limited edition for holiday. These are $14.50 each.

Finally: two nail polishes swatched on tape. $$$$$ Yes (how do you say this? I call it “Cash, yes”) is metal silver; Lucky Number is metal heliotrope. MAC polishes are $12 each.
