As mentioned in last week’s Sneak Peek, there are four lipsticks ($14): Equality (Lustre), Myself (Lustre), Empowered (Satin), and 5N (Lustre, and a repromote from the N collection). There are also four Lipglasses (also $14): Naked Frost, Glamour for All, Liqueur (which first appeared in Cult of Cherry), Spirit & Soul. Sorry for the typo in the swatch picture; I hate that.
There are four eyeshadows ($14.50): ash-purple All Races, mauve-rose Banshee, which contains silver sparkles, wood-brown Cross-Cultural, and dark, cool, almost plummy brown Showstopper. Don’t let the Matte (or Lustre) finish of these eyeshadows stop you from buying them; they’re nice.
There are also two pigments (loose eyeshadows) in this collection, and there has already been a lot of internet rumbling about the new containers. The pigments are still $19.50 each, but the jars are slimmer, containing 4.5 g, instead of 7.4 g. This change in size actually affects ALL MAC pigments going forward: if you buy a pigment right now from MAC’s website, you’ll get the new packaging. If you want one of the old, larger containers, hit up your stores and counters while you still can.
Unfortunately, Rich Life was the one item I couldn’t find in my swatching adventures. (I left a space for it on my arm as I wandered from MAC counter to MAC counter.) Universal Mix is an oyster-gold highlight-type shade. The base isn’t quite as pigmented and dense as some other MAC pigments. There are also two Beauty Powder Blushes: Personal Style, which reminded me of a shyer, more beige version of MAC’s The Perfect Cheek, and All’s Good — which I did swatch very heavily, but it is also quite pigmented. These are $18.50 each.
There’s a lot of brow stuff in All Ages, Races, Sexes, and to be honest it didn’t swatch very well. There’s a new brow pencil called the Impeccable Brow Pencil ($15); it comes in four shades. Black and Blonde should be self-explanatory. Taupe is actually rather dark. I’m a natural brunette who dyes her hair blonde and Dirty Blonde was the right brown for me.
But just between you and me, I was much more excited by the Penultimate Brow Marker ($16.50). It’s supposed to be one-shade-fits-most, and I thought it made for a really nice neutral, natural option.
