NYFW Fall/Winter 2010: Thakoon & NARS

Thakoon, AW2010, Fashion Week, NYFW, NARS, Diane KendalI don’t know about you, but I can’t look at a face chart and understand what it’s going to look like on a person. They are useful, though, for explaining exactly where to put each product. And I do love seeing pictures of runway makeup; even the “out there” stuff can inspire ideas you might use on a daily basis.

I’ve been able to track down some “inside information” from New York Fashion Week, so I thought I’d share it. You’ll notice these posts (and other makeup breakdowns) have been sorted into a new category called “What They Wore.”

NARS artist Diane Kendal created the look for Thakoon’s show this past week. She said the look was, “fresh, beautiful, luminous and quite confident. We focused on a strong brow and highlighted the eyes to show depth and boldness in a way that wouldn’t fight with the various textures, layers and colors of the collection.”

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that it was NARS’ fall collection walking the runway. The models were wearing

  • a new blush shade called Douceur (closest current shades are Lovejoy and Madly)
  • a new eyeshadow single called Coconut Grove (closest current shade is Bali)
  • Portobello eyeshadow duo
  • a new eyeshadow duo called Tzarine (similar in shade to the Orgasm Illuminator)
  • a new matte lipstick called Tashkent (most similar current option is Belle de Jour Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
