Giveaway: MAC Volcanic Ash Mask

It’s a “classic” MAC giveaway this week, with two winners. (I have two brand new MAC Volcanic Ash Masks from the Style Black collection to give away; two contestants will each receive one.)

Here’s how it works:

  • This giveaway starts today and ends on Sunday, April 4, at midnight.
  • You can enter once per day. (If you enter more than once per day, only the first entry will be counted.)
  • This giveaway is open to readers anywhere in the world.
  • A winner will be selected at random from the valid entries.
  • To enter, leave a comment on this post, and tell me: what makeup (or “beauty stuff” — flat iron? Glass nail file?) do you take with you when you travel? I’m actually very curious to know.

Winners will be contacted by email, so please use an email address you check (addresses will be hidden, and will not be used for any purpose other than contacting the winner).

Good luck!

  • Alisa says:

I have a little emergency clutch-like thing I carry around with me in my tote containing all of my “essentials”:
    – A good full-coverage concealer (Amazing Concealer right now)
    – blotting sheets
    – MAC’s Saplicious Lipgelee
    – a tube of mascara (my go to is Maybelline’s Full’N'Soft)
    – LORAC’s Croc Palette (I love the practicality of it, and it has the perfect neutral colors to spiff you up in a flash)
    – sanitizing wipes and lotion (yes, these are beauty products to me, because I need clean hands to apply some of these, and counteract the drying effects of the wipes). :)

  • Ann says:

Having done eyes, lips, cheeks, skin, skincare and travel brushes … hmmm … other:
I don’t like to bring a hair dryer if I can avoid it … so I’ll use what’s available and rely on air-drying unless there’s something really special that I want to look my best for. Mini bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I don’t bother bringing body wash or soap unless I’m going somewhere that won’t have them.
I like to bring a mini kit for on planes … a lip balm, a mini hand cream, a light but protective face lotion that I know doesn’t break me out, gum, a couple baby wipes, a tiny perfume sample (post-flight pick-me up), and my blotting papers. Maybe a lipstick.
I also think powder sunscreen is good for travel, because you can dust a bit more on mid-day, which makes a sunscreen touch-up fast and easy. (But I would never use one of these as my main sunscreen because they’re just not strong enough.)
For nails, I usually pick a forgiving color, and then I might bring the bottle for touch-ups if I’m actually concerned about what my nails look like. Then again, I’m just as likely to go bare-nailed, and just bring a mini manicure set. I always do my toes before I travel.

  • Lucia says:

My day cream :) (with spf of course!)

  • mim says:

    i take:
    lip balm AND lip gloss/lipstick
    small versatile moisturizer
these i keep on me all the time anyways

    mascara
    liquid foundation (maybe powder too)
    gentle facewash

a palette with eyeshadow, blush, and usually powder too (with eye shades i can use as liner also, and brushes included) I have two DVF palettes that work really really well for a variety of looks– my fave is new wave neutrals which has a light powder, two blushes, three lipsticks, and four eye shades inc a dark brown liner

might also bring a separate eyeliner, primer, blush, nail polish…depends on the trip

and i *need* tweezers! if i can’t bring them on a plane i’d buy some in the airport when i arrived!

I just recently started my makeup collection and had only one opportunity to travel with any makeup and I took:
mascara, lip gloss, two eyeshadow quads, liquid eyeliner, chapstick, eyelash curler, and my flat iron.

  • Isabella says:

Every year I try to take less and less, because cosmetics and beauty tools take up most of the weight of my luggage and I really use only the third or even fourth of it all. I always take hair dryer and brush, sunscreen, moisturizer and makeup removers and of course my makeup bag.

  • debbie says:

  • Karli says:

Well, if I can, I’ll take just about everything. But if I can only take what I need, I’d bring a foundation, concealer, setting powder, brow pencil, blush, black liquid liner, black mascara, a natural pink lipliner, and two or three lipsticks (Usually one hot pink, one red, one natural pink). And brushes, of course.

  • Judy says:

I take my Vichy Aqualia Thermal eye cream everywhere. I look tired all the time without it!

  • Anne says:

    I’m trying not to repeat myself . . .

Anything I can take that’s small is welcome. In my mineral makeup days that meant leaving my powders and kabuki home, because a) there was too much to take and b) even with them in a plastic bag, the danger of spilling them was too great. So I took some liquid foundation in a tiny plastic bottle I got from a Lancome SA.

Unless I’m going to be away for a week or more, I simplify my skincare routine. Instead of alternating two prescription products at night, I only take one (a few days without the other isn’t going to make much difference). OTOH, I take both makeup solvent and a cleanser, because I can transfer both into small containers.

I’m lucky that all I use for my hair is a comb and some styling goop (I get blowouts every week).

  • Belinda says:

No matter if it’s a short trip or a long one, these two are a staple:lip balm and eye lash curler

  • Sus says:

I take my straightener and some form of moisturizing lip product and a facial moisturizer.

    :)

  • Melly says:

Ok this might sound a little weird but I try to bring a small spray bottle of distilled water when I go to an unfamiliar locale. I have very sensitive skin and changes in water (ie harder/softer than normal) make my skin freak out. So I just spray the distilled water on my face, rub in my cleanser (Cetaphil), wipe off, spray again with water, then finish with toner. Saves my skin from a lot of aggravation.

  • Lotta says:

I always bring my entire kit: hairstuff, nailstuff, makeup stuff, a pair of scissors and a neadle and thread.

  • Claudia says:

Retinoids – i have cystic acne and need my treatments even while traveling, otherwise, my acne will take over my skin.

  • Annie says:

I actually keep a mini set of makeup with me in the morning that’s always in my bag just in case i’m running late – then i can quickly put on my makeup on the bus!

  • Isabel says:

I always need my flat iron and hairspray. As for makeup, I always bring my train case which pretty much has everything in it lol/

  • Vicky says:

    Moisturizer and sunscreen!

  • Anne-Marie T says:

I allways bring my own hairdryer!

  • Kathryn says:

A nail file, because it seems the only time I ever actually need a nail file is when I am travelling and forget to bring one with me!

  • Daniela Alston says:

    black eyeliner and mascara

  • CIndy says:

#3 I take my Laniege Cleanser, Egyptian Magic Cream, Moisturizer, Exfoliator, lip balm, hand creme because I can not stand dry hands!, and evian facial spray!

  • Clare says:

Aaaand that’s aboutit. eyeliner, powder, maybe primer…
