First order of business: the eyeshadow quad (409 Ombres Perlees, $59) — just as gorgeous as its preview picture. The quad contains a matte, just-barely-pink white; a matte light purple/dove grey (like ash, or smoke); a dusty, muted ceramic rose; and a gently shimmery purple-grey taupe almost the exact color of Guerlain’s Oriental Metal loose kohl. And THEN! The summer collection also introduces four new eyeshadow singles ($35 each), which will be permanent additions to the line.
162 L’Instant D’un Baiser is a frosty, very white peach (an ice peach). 183 L’Instant D’Un Caresse is an incredibly delicate, shimmery, slightly purpled silver. 184 L’Instant D’Un Reve is a purpled, cool brown, shimmery taupe. It’s where Satin Taupe meets Moth Brown, but finer (not as brash or frosty). 185 L’Instant D’un Emotion is an amazing, high-shimmer, green-grey charcoal. Incredibly dark, but still green. I was so impressed with all of these — and they swatched beautifully. Even the Chanel associates were peering over my shoulder.
The “real” lip products of the collection are the two new, limited edition Kiss Kiss Baby lipsticks ($31). These are moisturizing, very sheer, spf 10 lipsticks. They have a heavy-balm, almost gummy feeling (the closest experience would probably be Chantecaille’s Lip Chics, but I think Kiss Kiss Baby may be just a little thicker).
The collection also repromotes four Kiss Kiss lipsticks ($31) and three Kiss Kiss Glosses ($30).
Of course, the star of the collection ought to be the three new Meteorites — but how do I swatch these? Click here to read about the new shades. My understanding is that these new shades/new formulas will be replacing Guerlain’s current Meteorites (01 Mythic, 02 Pink Fresh, 03 Beige Chic).
