Guest Swatcher: Chanel Illusion D’Or

Causing major buzz on the interwebs is Chanel’s Illusion D’Or, a limited edition polish which debuted at the Paris-Shanghai Ready-to-Wear show. Fearless guest swatcher Soaper1 took these fabulous swatch pics so we could admire it properly.

This is part of Chanel’s Limited Edition Orient Extreme collection. The other two polishes in the collection are Gold Lame and Black Velvet, and the collection is only available at Chanel boutiques and online. Though these polishes are $25 each, limited edition Chanel nail polishes tend sell out quickly, so if you’re interested, you should purchase now (or expect to pay much more on eBay later).

Illusion D’Or is a clear base with gold microglitter. It also contains iridescent flecks that flash bluish-purple. The formula was very easy to apply. It dried incredibly smooth for a glitter polish. This polish is definitely unique; I don’t have anything that is even remotely similar.

This is one coat of Illusion D’Or over two coats of Sally Hansen Salon Black Patent. I used 1 coat of Seche Vite as a top coat. Then I applied 2 coats of Illusion D’Or on my pinky to see how it looked.

Pretty, but I can’t justify $25 for a polish. Too rich for my blood. :/
