NARS’ summer collection officially releases tomorrow, and if some of the shade names sound familiar, it’s because some of these products were walking runways and red carpets months ago. François Nars cited Catherine Deneuve’s character Séverine in the movie Belle de Jour as his inspiration for the collection. Amber Valletta is the model (she did spring 2010, too).
So what’s new?
- Enchanted Cream Blush, $26, a soft-peach cream blush with a hint of shimmer
- Burn It Blue Duo Cream Eyeshadow, $32, iridescent ocean blue and turquoise
- Cayenne Cream Eyeshadow, $22, spicy, deep brown
- Love Devotion Lipstick, $24, sheer guava lipstick (I’ll take two!!)
- Coup de Coeur Lip Gloss, $24, shiny, sheer apple-brandy
- Lamu Multiple, $38, glazed apricot with gold sparkles
- Versailles Nail Polish, $16, opalescent champagne gold (how aptly named!)
And I got the breakdown of the promo look:
NARS Makeup Primer
Sheer Matte Foundation in Fiji
Eden Loose Powder
Orgasm Illuminator on cheeks, forehead, center of chin
Enchanted Cream Blush on cheeks
Orgasm Blush blended toward temples
Iridescent shade of Burn It Blue eyeshadow duo on lids, blended up to base of brow bone
left side of Pandora eyeshadow duo across the lid
teal shade of Cleo eyeshadow duo into the crease
brows done with Blondie eyeshadow single and NARS Brow Shader
Mambo Eyeliner + Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo
Larger than Life Lengthening Mascara
Angelique Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment, Love Devotion lipstick

Wearing the Love devotion lipstick today-its such a pretty coral!
So excited about Enchanted cream blush!
Can’t wait to test the Enchanted cream blush, Lamu Lipstick and the love devotion lipstick ! Colors are great and the promo look is very glamour.
Yup, want the Love Devotion lipstick. Looks so bright in the tube, but applied on the model it looks soft and natural.
That promo pic keeps sucking me in!! I dismissed this collection early on (the colors didn’t appeal to me), but the more I see that picture, the more interested I am in the products. Successful advertising!
Beautiful makeup on Amber Valetta; I’ve loved her work since the 90s. But I’d never have thought she could look so much like Catherine Deneuve. The latter’s beauty is so transcendent–I hated Belle de Jour, but it’s still worth seeing just for her timeless beauty and wonderful makeup and styling!
