Sneak Peek: New NARS Primers

Two new products just popped up on and I have to say I really want to try both of them (they are described too alluringly).

NARS, Skin Smoothing Face PrepThe first is NARS Skin Smoothing Face Prep, meant to minimize pores and fine lines. Interestingly, it says you can use it before primer (can I use it instead of primer?). It’s mattifying, and claims it can even be used for touch-ups during the day. For all skin types, dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested, fragrance-free, and non-comedogenic. $30, .26 oz.

NARS, Smudge Proof Eyeshadow BaseThe second is NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base (Smudge-Proof?  I’m in!). It’s an eyeshadow primer in a tube with a doe’s foot wand, which promises to be lightweight, and equally effective on cream and powder shadow. Also for all skin types, dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested, and fragrance-free. $24, .26 oz.

If you get to try these before I do — I need details!

What the HELL! I don’t even like NARS and you have me lemming both of those.

From the photo, I’m guessing that the pore-reducing pre-primer is similar to the L’Oreal Studio Magic Primer or Clarins Instant Smoothing Touch–both heavily silicone based. I’ve found that the best pore reducer is still Clinique Pore Minimizer.

Hmmmm. The before primer/primer looks and sounds just like Trish McEvoy’s “instant pick me up” and the eye primer is packaged just like trish mcevoys line refiner. I’ll have to show you both of them this weekend….also as a fan of nars and a fan of originality, I will be checking them out very quickly.

I heard a bit more from an anonymous source:

The face product is more of a wrinkle filler than a primer, so it’s best for spot treatment. The eye primer is AMAZING! It makes shadows pop like no other primer. I tested it with the NARS “night” shadows, infamous for looking black with a tiny hint of the color you see in the pan. With the primer, they actually look like they do in the pan!!! It makes them hold to the skin amazingly well and it really blew me away.

Why aren’t they on the NARS website? I wanna take advantage of the last day of the sale. :( Anyways I’ve been looking forward to the eyeshadow primer, can’t wait to try it.

  • Hi! I’ve already seen the eye shadow base in action and it is AMAZING! Here’s my review!

It’s not available in my country yet but in a couple of weeks, it will hit stores and I am willing to plunk down money for this!!!

I have tried the NARS Skin Smoothing Face Prep, after reading a lot about it and honestly, I wouldn´t recommend it. I will leave a review explaining in detail. Of course, that is just my personal opinion
