Giveaway: MAC To The Beach

To the Beach releases this week (swatches are here and here because I didn’t get all of the enormous collection done in one day).  Fittingly, the weather in Dallas has also gotten quite tropical, so this week, I’m giving away a brand new Bronze Body Oil and Weekend Cream Bronzer.

Here’s how it works:

  • This giveaway starts today and ends Sunday, May 30, at midnight.
  • You can enter once per day. (If you enter more than once per day, only the first entry will be counted.)
  • This giveaway is open to readers anywhere in the world.
  • A winner will be selected at random from the valid entries.
  • To enter, leave a comment on this post, and please tell me a great priming product. Primer for lids, undereye, lips, face — I’m just looking for some good new ones to try, so tell me what it is, where you use it, and what it does for you.

Winners will be contacted by email, so please use an email address you check (addresses will be hidden, and will not be used for any purpose other than contacting the winner).

Good luck!

Korres face primer is really good!

  • Andrea says:

Le Metier de Beaute Peau de Vierge makes a wonderful primer as well as a light foundation because it has great benefits for your skin which if used daily works as a skin treatment.

  • Ana says:

Matt Touch: oil-free makeup base designed to minimize shine while maintaining the skin’s natural radiance.
    Good luck for all!!!

  • Dayday says:

I love UDPP but I’m trying to find a good primer for my oily skin!

  • Chris says:

Mac Paintpot in Painterly !!!! ;)

  • Adelita says:

As I’ve said before in my older comment:
“Recently, I’m an Urban Decay’s De-Slick in a Tube lover… Great as a base, especially when you pair it with UD’s De-Slick Oil control Makeup Setting Spray after, it’s a dynamic duo for oily skin girl who live in a super humid place like me!”

I love the UD De-Slick combo (I really need those two to keep me oil slick-free), but apparently I still need the pore eraser effect though.

    - so, yesterday I’m using:
UD De-Slick in a Tube » Pure Luxe Eraser » foundation » UD De-Slick Oil control Makeup Setting Spray » loose powder

    - and today I’m using:
UD De-Slick in a Tube » Monistat Chafing Gel Relief » foundation » UD De-Slick Oil control Makeup Setting Spray » loose powder

Choose Pure Luxe Eraser if you really need to cover pores (if big pores is really your issue) and choose Monistat if you want to have smooth-velvety finish (for moderate pore size).
Well, maybe I have to try this UD De-Slick combo with Smashbox Photo Finish in it too… Because those 3 primers (Pure Luxe Eraser, Monistat Chafing Gel Relief, Smashbox Photo Finish) are the best primer that can hide those nasty pores for me. ;)

*** I don’t think I’ll try this UD De-Slick combo + MUFE All Mat ever. I’m afraid it’ll be too matte & overly drying. Even though I’m super oily, I definitely don’t want to look old either :D

  • Cindy says:

I use the eye primer from John v G, it’s a Dutch brand. This primer works better for me than UDPP

  • Becca says:

I love Too Faced Primed and Poreless for my face- it’s not white so it won’t look ashy on, and feels smooth and silicone-y like Smashbox. For eyes I really like my deluxe sample of Benefit Stay Don’t Stray- works just as well as UD’s but can go all around the eye, which I actually really like.

  • Shinmin says:

For eyes I used Urban Decay primer potion, it last longer than usual. I also used concealer or
maybelline foundation as a primer for eyelids.

  • Hofken says:

Jan Marini makes a great primer/moisturizer

  • Christina C says:

I have been using Trish McEvoy Flawless Lip and am loving it for keeping my lips long lasting.

  • Lucisek says:

Too Faced eye primer is my no.2 after UDPP :)

  • Sofia says:

I really love the Korres face primer, it’s silicon free and it does what it promises, to me at least.

  • Mimmy says:

I use Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15 With Dermaxyl Complex.

This primer goes on silky smooth – it feels greasy on my fingers, but no on my face, which is odd – and it does great work keeping my foundation and concealer from settling into my fine lines. It has SPF in it, obviously, which is always a bonus! And I do believe Dermaxyl is supposed to be like Retinol, but without the harsh side effects to your skin. Whatever. Since using this primer, after I take my make up off, my face feels like baby skin for at least a day. I just can’t stop touching it!

The primer smells a little funny to me, but… hello! Baby skin! lol!

  • Bhakti Makwana says:

I use UDPP or maybelline foundation as a primer on eyes and both of them work really well for me….

  • Julia C. says:

I heard NARS is coming out with a new primer for the eyes. I can’t wait to try it! Right now I use NARS primer for face prior to foundation.

  • Tiffany says:

For a foundation primer, I use Laura Mercier’s. It’s great! A little goes a long way and the texture is great.
For an eyeshadow primer, I use UDPP or Mac Paint Pot in painterly. Honestly, I think that UDPP works better than a paint pot. After a period of time, the MAC point pot starts to crease for me.

  • Victoria says:

Other primer that I love is Laura Mercier oil free foundation primer!!

  • kiki says:

My favorite eyelid primer is shadow insurance by Too Faced. My favorite face primer is Laura Mercier face primer oil-free one. It controls oil throughout the day and makes my foundation last longer.

  • Heli says:

My favorite primer for glittery e/s is Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy. It helps all the glitter to stay where is should stay and makes other e/s look as if they were foiled.

  • Allison says:

i like smashbox photofinish primer it helps my makeup last longer and smooths things out.

  • Anitacska says:

I can’t remember now which ones I’ve done… But there’s one more I can remember, Tesco (UK supermarket) own brand (Barbara Daly for Tesco) eyeshadow primer. It works very well, it’s nice and creamy and holds eyeshadow as well as UDPP & co.

  • Audrey H. says:

The Loreal magic perfecting base is nice for eye lids.

  • virginia says:

i like udpp for my eyes, especially now that it’s hotter outside. here’s a trick though, i like to use it as a base for bright lipstick. it helps red to stay in place, and i blot after, and it’s set for hours.

  • Claudia says:

I love using Laura Mercier primer. It’s the best on the market. Never broke me out and preps my skin really well for makeup.

  • Candice says:

    Too Faced Insurance!

  • Steph says:

    Fyrinnnae Pixie Epoxy!

  • Devin says:

Clinique Pore minimizer is a great face primer. It really helps smooth over the pores and and fine lines on the face.

  • Alicia says:

My favorite foundation primer is Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer Oil Control. It is great in the hot summer months because it really gets rid of shine and leaves you with a beautiful finish. I follow it up with the Bare Escentuals Matte Powder Foundation.

  • Kimmy says:

if you have redness, MUFE’s primer #2 is great!

  • HT says:

My HG eyelash primer is Lancome Cils Booster XL.

  • DG says:

korres oak face primer – really great for nights out!

  • Kitty says:

I like the elf Mineral Eye Primer! It’s cheap and it works.

  • Anna says:

I previously loved MUFE’s #5 primer (the blue shade) it made my face SO radiant looking. Don’t wear primers on the face anymore but I bought that two times!

  • KriStyle says:

I use MUFE Full Cover Concealer as an undereye primer.

  • Mel says:

I like mac paint pots to prime y eyes and color correct. 2 uses in 1… that is multi-tasking :)

  • Coco says:

Tarte has a new anti-aging primer that’s silicone-free! It’s the ReCreate Primer with the Wrinkle Rewind tech and I love how it’s silicone-free (breaks me out!) and anti-aging (we all need that)!
I prefer it over the Smashbox Photo Finish ones but some people actually like the silicone in their primers (I did too until it broke me out!).
    Hope that helped :]]

  • Karli says:

I absolutely love Smashbox’s Photofinish Primer. But if you’re an oily skinned gal, their Photofinish Light Primer is amazing as well.

  • Tanja says:

I’ve heard really good things about the Rimmel Fix & Perfect foundation Primer. I think I’m gonna try that one next.

  • toni says:

eyelash primer from shiseido, well for me at least this is the best

  • debbie says:

LM eye basics in wheat is my go to lid primer… im pretty oily…

  • Isabella says:

I haven’t tried UDPP as it’s not available where I live, but I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance and it works wonderfully!

  • Lucisek says:

I like Shiseido primer on a face, it is really smooth :)

  • Halifax says:

Cover FX primers got some good reviews. I might give in :)

  • hugues says:

personally, I like to use Bobbi brown longwear cream eyeshadow in Navajo as a lid base. work well neutralizing the color in my lid ans is totally perfect as a base for my Bobbi brown powder eye shadow. the color pay off is better, it lasts longer and the color looks truer…. so a perfect primer for me….
I guess the new shore longwear cream shadow could be a nice lid base too….

  • tpzhearts says:

ELF Mineral Primer – great alternative for more expensive eye primers!

  • Barbarann says:

I use several primers. My favorite eye primer is Too Face’s Shadow Insurance. I like the packaging and I feel I get the most for my money. The Urban Decay Primer Potion is nice but the packaging leaves so much of the product unused. My favorite face primer is the new L’oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base. It glides on and it makes my foundation stay in place all day. And finally, my favorite lip primer is by e.l.f. It is a double ended tube, which tones down the natural lip color and allowing the true lip color to show (also makes it last a little longer than wituput it).

  • Ashley says:

hi! I use MAC paint in untitled to prime my eyelids. I think it works better than any primer I have tried. I do not use a primer on my face because they break me out :-( . To set my makeup I use MAc Fix+, and I love it – it is so refreshing, smells wonderful, and gives my makeup a nice glow :)

  • Gabriela says:

I love Urban decay Primer potion. The shadows last longer and longer.

  • Pam says:

Loving Bare Escentuals new brightening face primer available in the upcoming QVC TSV!
