Insanely curious about American Apparel’s new nail polish shades, I asked Soaper1 to investigate. She started with pale yellow Butter. Her review:
Butter is part of of AA’s new summer release. The other polishes in the collection are: California Trooper (light khaki), Summer Peach (pastel peach), Malibu Green (rich aquamarine), L Esprit (lavender) — and a basecoat/topcoat, if you’re counting that. All are cremes. They’re available online and in store at American Apparel. Online, they’re $6 each or the colors are available in various 3 packs that are $15. If you live near a brick-and-mortar American Apparel store, you can pick any three for $15.
Butter is a very opaque, creamy yellow polish. It’s fairly thick and could use a little thinning. Since it’s so thick and opaque, I think it would work with Konad (stamping a design on your nails using a second, contrasting shade of polish). Butter was a little streaky in one coat. The second coat evened things out pretty well. I went for a third coat out of habit. I apply fairly thin coats and the third coat really made it perfect — but you could absolutely get away with two coats. As always, I topcoated with one coat of Seche Vite. Unfortunately, I don’t think this color works with my skintone.

She didn’t like it on her hands, but I think I would like it on mine. I’m going for it!
