I was so entranced by Soaper1′s swatches of Lapis of Luxury, I asked her if she’d mind swatching the rest of Essie’s summer collection. As always, she graciously complied. Here’s her review of the colors:
The polishes in the 2010 Resort collection are Playa del Platinum, Splash of Grenadine, Lapis of Luxury, and Turquoise & Caicos. All four are cremes. They retail for $8 each and you can find them in “brick and mortar” stores Trade Secret and Ulta — or online from a variety of e-tailers. I loved Lapis of Luxury and I’m happy to say that the rest of collection meets the same standard. They all applied beautifully and wore very well. I applied these (exactly as you see them here) and then wore them for 7 days: 2 days preparing for a garage sale, 2 days of the garage sale, and another 3 days after the sale. I was very, very hard on my nails, but I had no chipping and minimal tip wear. These swatches are all 3 coats plus one coat of Seche Vite.
Playa del Platinum falls into the “greige” category. Mushroomy taupe colors are popular right now and this one fits in well with the collection. Splash of Grenadine is a magenta pink; Lapis of Luxury is ocean blue. For me, the standout of the collection is Turquoise & Caicos. All of the turquoise polishes I have are more blue-based, but this one seems more yellow/green. It’s a nice change.
