Guest Swatcher: OPI Shrek Collection

With the release of the fifteenth fourth Shrek movie, comes a nail polish collection tie-in from OPI.  Movie releases used to herald new action figures and lunch boxes — now they mean new makeup.  (Figure 1: Urban Decay’s Alice in Wonderland palette and OPI’s Alice in Wonderland collection.)

Both the Shrek movie and the collection were pretty much off my radar until Soaper1 sent swatch pics my way.  Dang.  Those got my attention fast.  Here’s what she thought about them:

The colors in this collection are all cremes. Who the Shrek Are You? is pea green; Fiercely Fiona is a greenish yellow; Ogre-the-Top Blue is a bright, medium blue; What’s With the Cattitude? is light blue (but not at all pastel); Rumple’s Wiggin’ is light purple (also not pastel); and Funky Dunkey is medium purple.

These swatches are all three coats. Who the Shrek Are You? and Funkey Dunkey applied smoothly and evenly; you could probably get away with two coats of these. The others were a bit streaky and definitely needed three coats to even them out. Overall, I love these colors. I’m pretty sure I’ve got similar colors in my stash, but I still love them. I’ll admit that I bought them for the connection to Shrek.

YAY!!! So excited to see these swatches! I am a huge chartreuse fan and I was ecstatic to see this collection in my ULTA flyer! I’ll definitely be picking up the little set of these!

  • Ooooh, I’m totally loving these colors (mostly because they’re “Shrek” colors). I don’t like that it takes three coats though :(

I recently found a Shrek-like color from Sinful, and had to have it :) I’m not sure how close to being a OPI dupe it is, but it’s a great color. I haven’t applied it yet though.

  • oooh! your nails are so pretty! what’s with the cattitude is my stand out fave :)

Funky Dunkey looks like Parlez-Vous OPI?

I LOVE the yellow-green-blue skittles … If I had these polishes, I would wear them just like that … and I’m not usually a skittles person.
Somehow they just work perfectly together, and give a gradient effect, but not too contrived. Beautiful!
