We don’t often talk about Becca, because the Australian cosmetics brand is one of the few without a presence in Dallas — to my profound disappointment. Becca is best known for its wide range of foundation and concealer shades (and the incredible willingness of their staff to try to match you to a shade over the internet), their highlighters (PSPs and LSPs: pressed shimmer powders and loose shimmer powders), their Beach Tints (stains for lip and cheek), oh and their promo photos are really, really, ridiculously good-looking.
Well I got the scoop on their latest collection, Bombora. (Do I call this a summer collection? It’s winter in the southern hemisphere.)
First there’s the limited edition Bombora Palette ($65), “sheer, retro shades for eyes, lips, and cheeks.” I was surprised to learn that none of the shades is necessarily an eyeshadow. The palette contains:
- Mai Tai lipgloss (sheer peach nude)
- Bougainvillea lip and cheek cream (peach/pink)
- Mazu highlighting cream (sheer gold)
- Raffia compact eyeliner (turquoise shimmer)
- Sunburst compact eyeliner (glistening yellow/gold shimmer)
- Dual-ended brush
There’s a new Sheer Tint Lip Color: Leticia (an addition to the 8 existing shades). Sheer Tint Lip Colors are sheer lipsticks with a soft shine. They contain shea butter, cocoa butter, honey, and vitamin E. They are $24 each, and Leticia is a soft guava pink.
And finally, there are two new Beach Tints, kiss-proof, water-resistant, sheer cream stains for lip and cheek. Grapefruit is soft, peachy pink; Strawberry is bright berry red. These two join Watermelon, Peach, and Raspberry in the permanent lineup. Beach Tints are $25 each.
So, the question of the hour: How can I look like the girl in the picture?
She’s wearing Bougainvillea (from the palette) on the outer apples of her cheeks. Mazu on her cheekbones and temples, as well as all over her lids (go sheer; it’s a cream). Sunburst compact eyeliner has been used on the inner corners of her eyes, and top and bottom lash line have been lined with a black pencil (Ibiza Line and Illuminate Pencil). On top of the pencil she’s wearing Raffia compact liner, used wet, on the upper lash line, plus Ultimate Mascara in black.
On her lips: Grapefruit Beach Tint, topped with Leticia, topped with Mai Tai gloss from the palette.
