Sneak Peek: New American Apparel Polishes

American Apparel, California Trooper, Malibu Green, Summer Peach, Butter,
They’re finally here!

A few months ago, I’d heard a rumor (from an American Apparel sales associate), that the clothing brand would be expanding its nail polish offering — from 18 to 24 shades. (See my paper swatches of the initial 18.) Given how impressively on-trend their initial offering was (and the fact that their shades are all cremes… and I love cremes), I’ve been waiting none-too-patiently to see what the line would come up with next. Well, the shades are finally arriving online and in-stores.

American Apparel says that their initial release was a bit haphazard — they created colors that they thought were pretty.  With the spring polish expansion, they’re thinking more about coordinating their polish with their new spring/summer clothes.

The new colors also represent the “flavor” of California (where AA is headquartered).  Malibu Green is inspired by the Pacific Coast Highway. Esprit, Malibu Peach, and Butter are available shades for some of the company’s classic garments. Light khaki California Trooper needs no explanation.  There’s also a new base/top coat.

American Apparel nail polish is $6 a bottle — or 3-for-$15. It is sold at American Apparel stores worldwide and online. The polish is also DBP-, toluene-, and formaldehyde-free.

they’re a little too neutral for me but the pastel baby blue does look pretty!
