Lots of brands have national artists (Sandy Linter for Lancome, Dell Ashley for YSL, Tim Quinn for Armani; MAC and Laura Mercier have several). Until now, NARS hasn’t had one — perhaps because Francois Nars has been so much the face and voice of the brand.
Well NARS just named Francelle Daly their National Makeup Artist (click here to see her porfolio, not really safe for work) — AND Francelle did Christina Ricci’s makeup for the closing of Marina Abramovic’s “The Artist Is Present†exhibit at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art last night.
Here’s what Christina was wearing:
Face
- Pro-Prime Skin Smoothing Face Prep
- Siberia Sheer Matte Foundation
- Riviera Multiple (on her cheeks)
Eyes
- Pro-Prime Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base
- Galapagos Eyeshadow
- Misfit Duo Eyeshadow
- Aigle Noir Soft Touch Shadow Pencil
Lips
- Harlow Lipgloss

I wish I still worked at MoMA! It’s great fun for celebrity/hipster/socialite sightings whenever these events happen, although I could’ve done less with the snooty art journalists.
On a side note I’m not that fond of Abramovich’s work, especially “The Artist is Present” exhibit. I don’t really like performance art that is so artist-ego-centric (hope nobody gets mad at me for that!)
I loved the Tim Burton exhibit though, and getting to see him in person and see him speak was fantastic. (He’s just like you’d imagine he’d be-wears dark glasses indoors, has crazy hair, super shy and awkward but sweetly adorable.)
