Guerlain Terracotta Gloss

I read Cafe Makeup’s review of the revamped Guerlain Terracotta glosses and my curiosity was piqued!

Guerlain’s summer Terracotta collection was actually pretty substantial (I’ll round up the products at the end of this post). But the part of the collection that really captured my attention was the reformulation and re-release of the Terracotta glosses. The old Terracotta glosses were $26, and quite sparkly.

The new formula ($30) promises to be lighter, creamier, comfortable, and non-sticky. It contains antioxidants, SPF 15, and marula oil for moisture. The colors are “especially developed to enhance, revive, and revitalize a tan, providing warmth and light.” The sparkle is much smaller and more subtle. These Terracotta glosses will be permanently available, replacing the old shades.

I swatched them using doe’s foot applicators… then I decided to spread the gloss with my fingertip. I know you’re not surprised that I liked Grenade best.

Guerlain’s 2010 Terracotta collection was filled with sultry products on a bronzing theme. Guerlain’s Terracotta bronzers are already famous, but they introduced Terracotta 4 Seasons ($74, SPF 10), a four-shade matte bronzer available in 01 Blondes and 02 Brunettes. The idea was that you could custom-combine the colors to suit your needs summer through winter.

They also introduced Terracotta Touch, a highlighter designed for bronzed complexions ($40, 01 Blondes or 02 Brunettes) and Terracotta Teint D’Ailleurs, a tinted moisturizer ($46, SPF 10 PA++, 01 Blondes or 02 Brunettes).

They revamped their Terracotta Light iridescent bronzing powder (that’s the “mottled” bronzer, with spots of five different colors. $50, in 01 Blondes Halees or 02 Brunette Halees, limited edition).

There were two limited edition greasepaint-stick-type eyeshadow/eyeliner “crayons,” the Terracotta Fard Metal Eye Shadow & Liner ($35, in 01 Gold Rush and 02 Smoky Metal).

And finally, there was a limited edition loose Terracotta kohl, shade 06 Mirage ($35).  Mirage is a dark, cool, matte brown (to compare: the kohl in Brun has sparkles.  Swatches here and here).
