Guest Swatcher: Maybelline Pie in the Sky

Soaper1 and I had some discussion on whether or not to feature Maybelline Pie in the Sky, as it was part of a (recent) limited edition collection, and by now may be somewhat difficult to find.  We decided it was better to add the swatches to the existing body of polish-swatch work out there.

Here’s Soaper1′s review:

Maybelline Pie in the Sky is part of their Spring 2010 Sweet Thing collection. This collection included Minty, Goody Plum Drop, Sweet Clementine, Candy Coated, Pink Sophistication, Bubble Pink, and Sweetie Pie.

These polishes attracted a fair amount of internet discussion, because the formula is quite thick, and Maybelline seems to have stopped adding mixing balls to their bottles. Without the balls, it’s really hard to get the pigments dispersed when you shake the bottles.

This photo is 3 coats over my usual base coats, Poshe 4-in-1 and one coat of Gelous, topped with 1 coat of Seche Vite.  I didn’t personally have a lot of application issues, but I did three fairly thick coats.

As not a fan of drug store cosmtics, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say I like hat color! If I see it next time I’m out I might buy it!

Wow .. looks *just* like Essie Lapis of Luxury. Is it a dupe or just a trick of the camera? :)
