I think 2010 holiday is a particularly spectacular year for Chanel gift sets. As you probably know, holiday stuff goes on sale in October. This year, Chanel has put together a great assortment of gift sets in cute little makeup bags. Â Honestly, every one of them sounds like a winner.
First up, the Glossimer Duo (Les Deux Levres Scintillantes, $51). This set contains full-size Glossimers in Muscat and Wild Rose, a mini Precision Lip Definer in Nude, and a pencil sharpener (plus the makeup bag). Â This is huge because Wild Rose was wildly popular — here’s a swatch.
“Nude” often means bronzey or coppery in Chanel’s lexicon,  and here’s a swatch of that lipliner — it’s not my favorite, but since just one glossimer is $27, I think this is a great deal whether or not you like the pencil.
Collection Teinte de Peche — also titled “The Ingenue Collection” — contains Joues Contraste blush in In Love (I can’t remember having seen a blush in a set before), the new-for-fall Glossimer Coral Love (swatched here), and Inimitable Intense mascara in Noir. This set is $95, which is not a huge discount off the price of buying these items individually, but a lovely gift set just the same.
There’s usually a holiday trio of nail polishes. This year the shades are Rouge Noir, Gold Lame (swatched here), and Coromandel (swatched here) — a great lineup, especially if you missed out on Gold Lame. The set is $66.
And I think I saved the best for last: The holiday brush set. It’s $125, and you get a short-handled powder/blush contour brush, foundation brush, eyeshadow brush, angled brow brush, eyeliner brush, and lip brush, all in a handy travel case.
EDIT: I should add, for completeness, that there are also a variety of fragrance gift sets for men and women. Â But those are to be expected for holiday.
