Because fabulous people hang out with other fabulous people (I knew it!), François Nars based his fall collection on his friend and muse Daphne Guinness (beer heiress and fashion force-to-be-reckoned-with).
The promo picture for this collection is one of the most striking I’ve seen, and I wonder if Daphne’s own aesthetic (she has a penchant for armor) played a part in the artistic direction.
This collection should go online at narscosmetics.com on July 15th, which is tragically the last day you can use the ksugar promo code to receive a free mini lipgloss duo in Striptease/Orgasm with your purchase of $50 or more. Here’s what’s in the collection:
Douceur blush, $26
When I saw the first internet photos of this blush, I was sure they were fake, but blush really is imprinted with the NARS logo (a first for the brand). Douceur is a soft pink-brown.
Daphne eyeshadow, $23
Matte deep violet
Coconut Grove eyeshadow, $23
Matte dark, cool chocolate (recommended as a liner when used wet)
Rouge Basque lipstick, $24, limited edition
“The quintessential red”
Strawberry Fields lipgloss, $24, limited edition
Reminiscent of freshly picked strawberries
Palladium soft touch shadow pencil, $24, limited edition
Sparkling turquoise, named after an ’80s NYC nightclub
Tzarine eyeshadow duo, $32
This duo sounds fascinating: “platinum gold infused with silver” and steel grey. Can’t wait to swatch it.
Rajasthan eyeshadow duo, $32, limited edition
Glazed almond and cool charcoal
And here’s what Daphne’s wearing in the promo photo:
Under Nars’ direction, makeup artist Kabuki primed the skin with line-erasing Skin Smoothing Face Prep, followed by a base of Siberia Sheer Matte Foundation and finally a light application of Snow Loose Powder. To contour Daphne’s complexion, he dusted Douceur Blush to the cheeks and blended it with the Yachiyo Brush.
To create scintillatingly dramatic eyes, Kabuki applied a coat of Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base, followed by a wash of Daphne Single Eyeshadow. Using the Wide Contour Brush, he built color and intensity along the outer eye. For brightness in the inner eye, he applied Mangrove Single Eyeshadow and lightly lined the top and bottom lashes with Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo. Brows were defined with Ipanema Eyebrow Pencil. The look was finished off with two coats of Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.
Daphne’s lips were stained with Rouge Basque Lipstick and highlighted with Scandal Lip Gloss for ultimate shine and fullness.
