Guest Swatcher: China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald

From the first promo pics, I was entranced by China Glaze’s Vintage Vixen collection. Almost based on name alone, I fell in love with Emerald Fitzgerald (I keep saying it over and over to myself). Luckily for all of us, Soaper1 spotted the collection at her local Sally’s — and she has swatches!

China Glaze’s fall collection is called Vintage Vixen; it’s a 1940s based collection featuring “multi-faceted jewel tones, rich reds, titillating taupes, and smoldering sands.” China Glaze describes the finish for this collection as frost. In my opinion, it’s more of a shimmer with microglitter finish, maybe leaning toward a metallic finish. This not the “frost” finish we’re used to seeing. Is this the new frost?

The polishes in the collection are Emerald Fitzgerald (deep blue green), Midnight Mission (dark blue with silver microglitter), Bogie (eggplant frost), Classic Camel (a shimmery golden straw), First Class Ticket (purple frost), Foxy (red with a tinge of brown frost), Goin’ My Way (a shimmery bronze brown), Hey Doll! (mauve frost), Ingrid (taupe with gold shimmer), Jitterbug (gunmetal silver frost), Riveter Rouge (red shimmer), and Swing Baby (champagne frost).

Emerald Fitzgerald is a beautiful, deep blue-green with shimmer. It applied smoothly and evenly with no brushstrokes. This is three coats with one coat of Poshe. If you do medium-thick coats, you could do two.

I have to say, I’m really liking what Soaper1 describes as “new frost.” I like the finish better than “old frost.”
