Concurrent to the release of their Feline collection, MAC has released their fall/winter 2010 Nail Trend collection — their second collaboration with nail guru and trendmaker Jin Soon Choi (click here to see last year’s offering).
The collection is inspired by imperial China, and each polish is $13.
The sparkles in the bottle are quite fantastic, and I was a little disappointed that they didn’t translate to the swatches.
Concubine is red with red/magenta sparkles. Imperial Flower is neon orange with orange and pink sparkles. Earthly Harmony is warm elephant grey. In the bottle it has copper sparkles, but I didn’t see them in my swatch. I think Earthly Harmony (by virtue of its “taupeness”) is going to look a little different on everyone. It’s greyer on me, but on the nail of my Hispanic makeup artist friend, it was a little more brown (but still lighter and greyer than Chanel’s Particuliere).
Jade Dragon is a deep, blued green with green sparkles (much less visible than they are in the bottle). Ming Blue was a more vivid interpretation of that color (blue-and-white painted ceramic) than I expected. Rain of Flowers is a really dark plum with blue and violet sparkles.
Ming Blue looks amazing. I think it’s the stand out color from the collection.
you can still see a slight shimmer when you wear these on your nail… the sparkles are really a cross between flakies and glitter, I think (not uniform, flat, without a lot of bling)… and the ones in Earthly Harmony show up golden on my darker skin tone (NC45)
Rain of Flowers is a very cute name for a nail polish. love it!
Ming blue looks too cute.
