Lips of the Day: Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Exces

I was attracted to Exces when I swatched it, but it was Liz’s lip swatch over at Cafe Makeup that really pushed me over the edge.

I love how Exces is pigmented-but-sheer. Actually, when you first dab it on, it’s VERY pigmented, but as you spread it over your lips, it takes on the translucence you see in the photo.

Extrait de Gloss is stickier than I remember other Chanel glosses being. It also has a classic “makeup” scent (floral?). I can smell it when I bring the applicator to my lips, but not at all once the gloss is on. Extrait de Gloss also has that new flocked wedge applicator (instead of a regular doe’s foot, but it works about the same).

All in all, I think this is a beautiful color that I will love at pretty much any time of year. I feel instantly more dressed up when I put it on.

Extrait de Gloss are $32 each.

Beautiful! Do you plan to swatch all of them?

On lips? No, I don’t plan to. Lipgloss testers kind of gross me out — I’ve seen too many shoppers double dip, or use the applicator to apply directly to their lips, or even use the stick after the applicator tip has been cut off. :-/ I hate to try them on unless I know I’m the first one to get to the tester.

    So sorry.
