That does mean, however, that Guerlain’s holiday collection is tricky to swatch. Easiest to photograph was the limited edition eyeshadow quad, 410 Velours d’Or ($59). The compact itself is gold; the powder shadows are embossed with honeycombs and bees. The shades are a very yellow (almost coppery) frosty gold, a deep matte plum, a matte charcoal, and a matte black.
There’s a new Rouge G Le Brillant lipstick, B64 Bee. It’s supposed to be a sheer violet, but unfortunately, I swatched the shades sitting in the display without checking to make sure they were the right ones. Â Betsy and Bella were part of Rouge G Le Brillant’s original release in January of this year. Â Rouge G Le B lipsticks are $46 each.
There are two new limited edition Kiss Kiss Strass lipsticks ($31): sheer red with red sparkles Rouge Imperial and sheer warm pink with blue sparkles Rose de la Reine.
A holiday collection means Holiday Meteorites, and this year they are Meteorites Perles d’Or ($56, with a bee on the case). These “loose pearls” of highlighter/face powder include more gold and violet for a holiday glow. The pressed version (swatched above) is Poudre d’Or, a sheer, shimmering pink veil. Poudre d’Or is $170, and comes in a heavy, luxurious refillable compact.
There’s also “golden iridescent” Or Imperial Face and Body Powder ($85). For the last several years, Guerlain has come out with a shimmering powder in an elegant atomizer. My sales associates said that this year’s was the finest they could remember and that it was particularly stunning on darker skintones.
The holiday collection includes a limited edition mascara, 13 Or 2 Nuit ($36). Â The larger wand has black mascara, but the smaller side has a gold/copper color.
And finally, the most whimsical piece of the collection: Guerlain’s Midnight Star “wand” ($73). This tube contains single serving ampoules of Midnight Star, a lifting, smoothing, radiance-enhancing treatment/primer. Meant to dispel the fatigue of a long day so you can look fresh and lovely for your evening festivities.
So is there any Guerlain on your holiday wishlist? (I’m still thinking about the Sevres palette, myself.)
