Chanel Soho, Redux

Chanel, Soho, displayI was absolutely flabbergasted to see the Chanel Soho collection at my Nordstrom Chanel counter this weekend.

Chanel recently created a very limited edition collection to commemorate the grand reopening of their boutique in Soho (and, at the time, that collection was available only in that boutique and through Chanel’s website).

Now, miraculously, it has appeared in both my Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, so I can only assume they’ve decided to re-release  in wide distribution.

These swatches are really an appendix to Estelle’s fabulous swatches and very insightful review. (You may remember she guest swatched the collection when it first came out.) She’s cooler toned (more pink) than I am, and she’s actually worn the collection, so it’s definitely worth reading her take on it before pulling the trigger.

The Stupendous quad ($56) contains a satin ballet pink, a satin grey-purple, a nearly matte (but slightly chalky) cool brown, and a shimmery, cool silver.

Of the three lip products, my clear favorite is Stunning Rouge Coco lipstick ($30). It’s a warm, very peachy, slightly browned rose. There’s also mauvey, plummy Rouge Allure Laque in Stunt ($32) and sheer lilac-pink (with blue and silver sparkles) Star Glossimer ($27).

Steel and Strong nail polishes ($23) did not swatch on tape as well as I’d like. They’re so darkly sparkly, I really think they benefit from nail swatch. Check out photos from Soaper1 and Estelle for a better look.

The Soho de Chanel powder ($65) is a really pretty, warm, slightly bronzey rose-pink blush/highlight. The swatch you see here is as heavy/dark as I could make it — definitely a blush/highlight.

If you see something you love, but you don’t have a Nordstrom counter near you (or you don’t have one you’re loyal to), you could always call my fabulous people (Tim and Elena) at 214-231-3900. I’m sure they would be happy to help.

This is great news! Is the collection going to be available online at Neimans and Nordstrom?

Also, do you think Stunt would pass as a MLBB shade or would it be too dark? Thanks Karla!!

Excellent question! I don’t see it there yet, but I’ll look again later. If you’re ordering more than $25 over the phone, Nordstrom *should* be able to offer you free shipping.

As for Stunt… that really depends on your skin color. It’s pretty dark, and would definitely be too dark for me.

Is this at all Nordstrom stores or just in certain places?

I looove that lippie – Stunning Rouge Coco. But I don’t think I could stomach spending that much on it. Do you know of anything similar in color?

  • Nellie says:

Aha! We saw this at the same Nordie’s counter, I see. :) I highly recommend Mary as well; I’ve had great experiences with her.

I knew Soho was coming to counters sometime this month, but I was surprised to see it so soon!

    Switch,

I recently bought Stunt at Nordstrom. It’s not a MLBB color. It has a blue undertone that makes it strong, sophisticated, and a bit edgy–definitely a dramatic shade to be worn with confidence. I also bought Star to wear over it. The glossimer brings Stunt life and makes the color easier to wear. When I wore this to the mall the other day, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of women who asked me what I was wearing. By the way, this combo works beautifully with the Enigma quad.

It was (is?) also available in Selfridges in the UK< I managed to snap up the eyeshadow quad, blush and Star glossimer. :)

How does Stunning compare to Patchouli? They seem close to me, and I already own Patchouli and love it…

  • KarlaSugar says:

The swatches do look similar. I think Patchouli is lighter, more sheer, more shimmery, and more brown. Stunning seems more rosy. Here’s the Patchouli swatch to compare: http://karlasugar.net/2010/10/chanel-holiday-2010/

Thanks! *adds Stunning to shopping list*

It was never only at the Soho Boutique. I went there specifically after hearing that it’s limited edition and they told me that everyone will get it later, it’s just that the Soho Boutique get the collection first for a period of time. However, it is still limited edition so pick up the stuff you want sooner rather than later guys!
