Lancome Holiday L’Wren Collection

Lancome, holiday, 2010, L'Wren Scott, displayLancome’s holiday offering is somewhat complicated this year. Judging by the front table in my Lancome boutique, there are new eyeshadow singles, new eyeshadow quads, and new Juicy Tubes. The eyeshadow-and-blush palettes are also back this year.

And then there’s the “holiday collection,” designed by model/fashion designer L’Wren Scott. Though this collection is rather small, the quality is absolutely superb.

I am not a blue-eyeshadow girl, but the Les Gris L’Wren eyeshadow quad ($42) is fantastic. Great texture, fabulous pigmentation — even the matte black fourth shade is excellent.

There are two limited edition nail polishes, steel blue frost Le Gris L’Wren and claret with red sparkles Le Rouge L’Wren. Because these are “mini” bottles, they’re only $14.50 each — but the bottles really aren’t that small. It’s a nice size at a decent price.

Finally, there are two “Le Rouge L’Wren” lip colors: L’Absolu Rouge lipstick and Creme de Brilliance lipgloss (each $29). They are nearly identical shades of berry-rose, and both contain Lancome’s hydrating Pro-Xylane skincare ingredient. I know I’ve said it before, but these are both wonderful formulas, and they feel great on the lips.

Also on the display but not swatched: Hypnose Drama mascara and a limited edition Hypnose Drama sparkly silver topcoat mascara ($24.50). If you’re going to wear sparkly mascara, I recommend applying it to the tops of your lashes, not the underside. I’ve worn sparkly mascara only once, but with “regular” application I could see the sparkles, and the flashing lights were extremely distracting.

  • Karla,

I love this collection! I purchased the eye shadow quad, lipstick and gloss. The only thing in stock was the gloss so I’m waiting on the others. Surprising, when the shadows are applied, they lose of the blue tone and look more silver/gray which I like much more. The lipstick alone is nice, but with the gloss on top–Wowza!
My best Holiday purchase so far!

Aaaah! There are so many grey palettes this season – amazing!

  • I was given a Les Gris L’Wren quad (I had it signed by Aaron too which was rather a thrill!). These are not normally colours that I wear or think that I can pull off but I was surprised by what flattering undertones in the greys that had chosen. It makes for a gorgeous smoky eye.

I really fancy the Le Gris polish and the lip products are calling me. I didn’t realise they contained Pro-Xylane. I’m a big fan of moisturising lipsticks. Too often very pigmented colours sap all the moisture from my lips.
