Lancome’s holiday offering is somewhat complicated this year. Judging by the front table in my Lancome boutique, there are new eyeshadow singles, new eyeshadow quads, and new Juicy Tubes. The eyeshadow-and-blush palettes are also back this year.
And then there’s the “holiday collection,” designed by model/fashion designer L’Wren Scott. Though this collection is rather small, the quality is absolutely superb.
I am not a blue-eyeshadow girl, but the Les Gris L’Wren eyeshadow quad ($42) is fantastic. Great texture, fabulous pigmentation — even the matte black fourth shade is excellent.
There are two limited edition nail polishes, steel blue frost Le Gris L’Wren and claret with red sparkles Le Rouge L’Wren. Because these are “mini” bottles, they’re only $14.50 each — but the bottles really aren’t that small. It’s a nice size at a decent price.
Finally, there are two “Le Rouge L’Wren” lip colors: L’Absolu Rouge lipstick and Creme de Brilliance lipgloss (each $29). They are nearly identical shades of berry-rose, and both contain Lancome’s hydrating Pro-Xylane skincare ingredient. I know I’ve said it before, but these are both wonderful formulas, and they feel great on the lips.
Also on the display but not swatched: Hypnose Drama mascara and a limited edition Hypnose Drama sparkly silver topcoat mascara ($24.50). If you’re going to wear sparkly mascara, I recommend applying it to the tops of your lashes, not the underside. I’ve worn sparkly mascara only once, but with “regular” application I could see the sparkles, and the flashing lights were extremely distracting.
