MAC Peacocky on NC35

This past weekend I had the great pleasure of hanging out (shopping, talking, swatching) with Jennifer of Em Just Like You.

I am slowly learning how different products look on different skintones. It’s a subject that fascinates me (and one I wish I knew more about), so it was a real treat to swatch with Jennifer. She’s Vietnamese-American, and she wears NC35 in MAC Studio Fix, (C4 in Studio Fix Powder), Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Compact in Warm Natural 4.5, and Lancome Teinte Miracle in 7N.

Click here to see my NW15-20ish swatches of Peacocky.
MAC, Peacocky, swatches, NC35, Peek at You, Dalliance, Prance, Top of the Posh, Tweet Me, Mating Call, Odalisque, Sexpectations, Paparazz-she, Ego
Peek-at-You seemed even more sheer on Jennifer’s slightly darker arm. And Dalliance looks less green on her than it did on me. It was gorgeous, shimmering in the sunlight (clearly, this color is a win for all skintones).

Prance, I thought, pulled more lavender and less silvery. And I didn’t see the gold-reflection in Top of the Posh — it really just looked pink. Tweet Me looks brighter, more peach and more golden. Mating Call looks about the same on both of us.

We didn’t see as much of Odalisque’s gold sparkle on Jennifer, though she loved the color. Sexpectations was a bricky, metallic rose; Paparazz-she was like pumpkin-ginger spice. These two are about the same on both of us. But I thought Ego (blackened blue-green) looked much better on her.
MAC, Peacocky, swatches, NC35, Noir Plum, Dandizette, Spectacle of Yourself, Centre Stage, Unflappable
Noir Plum, which didn’t really catch my attention on my own arm, was dazzling on Jennifer.  But Dandizette looked more complex on me. Spectacle of Yourself was about the same on both of us. Center Stage (Jennifer’s favorite) was warmer and more vibrant on her than on me. Unflappable (which is distinctly brown-grey on me) was much greyer on her.
MAC, Peacocky, swatches, Kissable Lipcolor, NC35, Woo Me, Super, Temper Tantra, Love Peck, So Vain, Exxxhibitionist, Strut Your Stuff, Enchantee, Vanity Fair, Scandelicious, Flaunting It
I don’t think the Kissable lipcolors swatched so differently, since we swatched these as full-coverage lipcolor (instead of sheering them out). But it is nice to see how the colors compliment Jennifer’s skin.

Thanks for the swatches. These e/s are gorgeous but kinda expensive. I know we get more product but still it feels expensive.

I love this post! I’m an NC40, so this is closer to my skintone. I can see which shades would better compliment me and it’d be nice if you did these kinds of posts more often so other people could see how products would look on their skin too. :)
Thank you for the great swatches!

I’m NC30 and gold tones just get lost on me. Eyeliners like Powersurge and I Get No Kick simply don’t show up. I suspect that the golden shimmer in Odalisque didn’t show up on Jennifer for the same reason. Anyway this post was very helpful!
