MAC Peacocky releases January 6th in the U.S., bringing us two new (but limited edition) products: Mega Metal eyeshadow and Kissable lipcolor. The display unit was adorably designed to evoke a peacock, and for the first time ever, I want one to display in my own home.
The Mega Metal shadows are $19.50 each (larger than regular MAC shadows, so they won’t fit in your pro palettes, even if you depot them). Given that this is a new formula, I wasn’t sure how Mega Metal would perform. So I first made a few wide test swatches.
I thought Mega Metal would be cream shadows (because the ill-fated Metal X shadows were); they’re not. They’re very satiny-feeling powders. They’re all shimmery, and I felt like I was working with very smooth (pressed) pigments.
There are 15 Mega Metal shades in all, and if I were taller (and had proportionately longer arms), I could have fit them all in one picture. Instead, I had to take two overlapping photos:
And then I thought maybe you’d like to see wider swatches of the last six as well, so I took another photo:
My must-haves are very sheer champagne-beige Peek-at-You, silver-green Dalliance, and grey-brown Unflappable.
Blanched, silvery lavender Prance is also gorgeous. Top of the Posh is an almost lilacky pink that reflects gold. Tweet Me is a peachy, rosy sunset color that reflects gold. Mating Call is African Violet with a white sheen. Odalisque is turquoise with a few gold sparkles. Sexpectations is rose; Paparazz-she is very, very orange copper. Ego is a blackened blue-green (as a sidenote, there was a Starflash shadow called Ego, but it was a completely different color). Noir Plum is blue-violet. Dandizette is beautiful, a blackened, denim blue. Spectacle of Yourself is a foxy, rusty red-brown. Centre Stage is a warm, nutty brown.
After you get past the shadows, there are 12 shades of the new Kissable Lipcolor ($18), a liquid lipstick with a doe’s foot applicator. I don’t know why they called it Kissable — it will come off on your kissing surface.
Woo Me is nude rose. Super is a warm (rosy) beige-brown. Temper Tantra is rosewood. Love Peck is burgundy. So Vain is bright peach. Exxxhibitionist is hot coral pink. Strut Your Stuff is blindingly bright, fierce, warm red. Enchantee is a pale cool pink. Vanity Fair is a cool, medium pink. Scandelicious is vivid rose. Flaunting It is a dusty purple. Peacocky is smurf blue.
What do you do with the blue one? Well, maybe you’re going for the club-kid look. Or perhaps you need blue lips for a costume. But the Kissable lipcolors are mixable, so there are more possibilities than what you see on first glance.
