It’s almost summer, which means you have a plethora of new lipsticks to choose from. One of the most hotly anticipated formulas is Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine, the sheer counterpart to last summer’s Rouge Coco. Rouge Coco Shines are $32 each. Each offers a sheer wash of color, and the formula has a good amount of “slip” — it almost liquifies as it transfers from the tube to your lips. The first five shades are what Chanel considers the Beige/Brown category. Canotier is a sheer beige with multicolored sparkles (giving it a very slightly frosty appearance). Biarritz is rosy peach brown. Deauville is a light, sheer, wine brown. Bel Ami is a terracotta reddish brown. Cavaliere is purple brown. If any of these is too sheer for your tastes, you may prefer them over lipliner.
The next four are the “Violet/Berry” family (though the classifications seem loose and flexible). Fetiche is a medium pink with perhaps a blush of plumminess to it. Elise is a reddish rose pink. Unique is a reddish berry pink with gold sparkles. Bonheur is red-violet. Liberte is sheer coral. Sari d’Eau is orange with gold sparkles. Rebelle is sheer apple red. Monte Carlo is sheer strawberry pink with blue sparkles. Chance is milky, pale, cool pink. Romance is medium pink (the most intense pink of all the RC Shines). Aventure is a lighter blue-pink with gold sparkles. Evasion is a warm, peach-pink. Boy is sheer, slightly mauvey blue-pink.
Boy previously enjoyed a limited Valentine’s Day early release (click here for my previous swatches and lip-swatch of that shade). This time I randomly tried on Rebelle. I LOVED it — so perfect for summer! And just the right punch of color for my skintone. The lipstick itself did not last that long, but the pigment stayed behind (so my lips weren’t naked). Still, as a dry-lipped Chapstick-fiend, this detail might keep me from collecting the whole set.
Stay tuned for a future post on Rouge Coco Shine — I still have to swatch the exclusive shades for Saks and Neiman Marcus!
