MAC Jeanius

MAC JeaniusMAC’s denim-inspired Jeanius collection launched yesterday. I’m not usually a fan of the blues, but I was surprised to find a few items that called my name.

This collection features four oversized eyeshadows with a blue jean print. Like the Peacocky shadows, and the Tartan shadows before them, these shadows are $19.50 each. Now that I think of it, all three collections have a similar, shimmery finish.

White Jeanius is a shimmery white. Diva in Distress is a shimmery ice blue. Motorhead is a shimmery blackened sapphire (it would be a very blue wash on a pair of jeans). Stovepipe Black is a shimmery blue-charcoal.

There are two blushes, so I swatched them first lightly, then heavily. Overdyed is fuchsia. In a light swatch it appears to have very tiny silver or light blue sparkles. In a heavier swatch, those sparkles resolve into an overall sheen. Pink Cult is matte, a very pretty, dusty beige pink. The blushes are also $19.50 each.

There are three lipsticks and three lipglosses in this collection, and I’ve never seen such precise lipstick-lipgloss analogs.

Acid Washed is basically a clear or sheer grey base with pink and gold sparkles. It’s all sparkles — perhaps intended as a topcoat? Surprisingly pretty. Painted On looks exactly the same: clear with pink and gold sparkles.

Riveting Rose is a deep, blued, wine purple with tiny blue and green sparkles. Indigo Pink is rose violet with blue and green sparkles.

Pretty Please (repromoted from the permanent line) is a sheer, pale, milky warm pink with very subtle sparkles. Docile (repromoted from Fabulous Felines) is also milky pale pink with tiny sparkles.

All six lip products are $14.50 each.

My swatches on tape are so utterly inadequate when it comes to conveying the spiffyness of these nail polishes.

MAC Jeanius promoBiker Blue is a sheer blueberry base with blue sparkles. I swatched two coats, and it becomes so gorgeous and darkly sparkly. Blue-sparkle polishes often have an opaque or semi-opaque base, which means some of the sparkle gets buried as you add more coats… Biker Blue is the most luscious blue sparkle I can think of.

Frayed to Order is a whole different ballgame. It’s a matte white that reflects pink. My photo utterly failed to capture its opalescent quality — I really haven’t seen another polish like it.  It’s unusual enough on a bare nail, but takes on a whole other personality swatched (one coat) over black. It looks so… pink-industrial. You deserve proper nail swatches of both these shades, and I’ll get them to you as soon as possible. Both polishes are $14 each.

There are a few more items repromoted with this collection (my counter hadn’t made testers yet, so I couldn’t reswatch them). Penultimate eyeliner ($17.50, black) is back, as is Penultimate Brow Marker (YAY! $17.50 in universal brown).
