I’ve gotten a sneak peek at what we can expect from Chanel through the end of 2011 — and you probably want to read these posts sitting down (they might leave you weak in the knees).
First up is a collection called Illusions d’Ombres de Chanel (expected on counter late June/early July). The highlight of the collection (and the inspiration for the collection’s name) is a new “silicone-gel” formula eyeshadow. The Illusion d’Ombre shadows are intensely shimmery, extremely blendable, meant to be worn as either shadow or liner (and they come with brush). They launch in six shades, each $36. I die for Epatant (the shade appearing in the photo below).
New shadow formula aside, there’s quite a lot going on in the fall collection. There’s a new eyeshadow quad ($57), Prelude. My sales associate described it as “like Beiges de Chanel, but with chocolate plum.” It sounds divine.
I’m also SO excited to see limited edition Khaki Platine, which I hope will be the “silver khaki” companion to summer’s much-too-gorgeous Rose Platine. [Colleen, in comments, sagely observed that Rose Platine was a Stylo Yeux waterproof liner, and Khaki Platine is a Crayon Yeux non-waterproof pencil.]
There are a bunch of new fall lip options: two new Rouge Coco lipsticks (Plumetis and Etole, $32), three Glossimers (Pampille, Braise, and the repromoted Giggle, $28.50), two Rouge Double Intensite (dual ended long-wear lip gloss/lip color, repromoted Rose Quartz and U.S.-only Rose Morganite, $34), and two new lipliners (Coraline and Rose Cuivre, $29).
There’s also a new Joues Contraste blush ($43): Rose Ecrin. I hear this color is slated to replace Rose Dust.
Double Perfection compact is being repromoted with this collection, and the whole internet has been buzzing for months over Chanel’s fall nail polishes (Graphite, Quartz, and Peridot, $25 each). I don’t think Peridot is quite as multihued as the promotional picture makes it look. Click here for real, on-nail swatches from Sophy Robson.

I would LOVE Khaki Platine (love the rose one!), but it is a different kind of liner. I love the waterproof liner that Rose Platine came in. Wish they would have stuck with the same type of liner for khaki. I’ll wait for swatches to see if it’s a must-get.
I’m not feeling most of these. I wish Chanel made brighter shadows.
Is the Rose Ecrin blush Limited Edition or will it be part of permanent collection?
Are any of the Illusions d’Ombres or Rouge Cocos LE?
Rose Ecrin is supposed to be permanent; I’ve heard it’s going to replace Rose Dust.
It sounds like very little of this collection is limited edition. Just Khaki Platine, Graphite, and Peridot, actually.
