Sneak Peek: Chanel Sophisticated Eye Collection

Chanel, Sophisticated Eye Collection, promoAfter the fall collection, we’ll see an “interstitial” collection (probably in early August): The Sophisticated Eye Collection. This collection is all about lids, brows, and lashes — and it introduces several new products!

First, there’s a new Chanel mascara base, Beaute des Cils ($30). Its conditioning formula strengthens, hydrates and protects lashes. Wear it under mascara for additional volume, length, and curl, or wear it alone at night as a “mask” for your lashes. We can also look forward to a repromote of Inimitable Intense mascaras in Brun, Purple, and Noir ($30).

The collection includes eyeshadow quads Lagons and Vanites (Vanites is a repromote, but according to my sales associate, it’s had something of a facelift. This time around these shadows are not matte, and the color payoff is brighter). Lagons was released in non-U.S. markets (round pans), but I think this is its U.S. debut. The quads are $57 each.

The collection features four single eyeshadows, repromotes Lily and Magic Night (!!!), and newcomers Twilight and Fauve (drool). Singles are $28.50 each.

Chanel, Lash CurlerThere’s also (DUN-DUN!) a limited edition Chanel eyelash curler. It’s $34, comes with two silicone refill pads (and I suspect Asia saw these babies before we did).

I’ll be watching the counter for the new Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Taupe; Ebene is also repromoted with this collection. (These eyeliner pencils are $29 each.)

Last, but certainly not least, Chanel is overhauling their brow pencils (Le Crayon Sourcils, $29). (So if you’re in love with the shade you’re using right now, you’ve been warned.)

European readers will be familiar with these products. I’m gutted that Sublime de Chanel is not showing as part of this release. Well, not really–it’s an excuse to go to Paris to go buy some more. BTW, everyone needs Fauve. Just sayin’. The eye pencils are slightly creamier (less dry) than the current ones. Using the brush on the end of the pencil is important keep brows from looking TOO creamy if you know what I mean (and I think that you do!)

As always, Amy, your insight is *greatly* appreciated!

I am always waiting for the next release from Chanel, and I’m so excited they are focusing solely on the eyes for this one! The eyelash primer sounds very interesting, and I can’t wait to see the shadows in person. I have a feeling my wallet will be begging for mercy!
