Guest Swatcher: Oh My Gosh mini nail polish

Readers, I am so excited about today’s guest swatches. Katja Moikjaer writes the fabulous Danish blog Pudderdaaserne.dk (but with a little help from Google Translate, we can read anything these days, can’t we?).

Katja and I got to talking about makeup recently, and she offered to swatch some items from Danish makeup company Gosh (woo!). I’ve had limited experience with Gosh (they’re trickling into the U.S.), but I’ve loved what I’ve managed to get — Soft’N Shine lipsticks and Velvet Touch Waterproof Eyeliners.

Anyway, I learned from Katja that Gosh just released a collection of mini polishes (adorably named “Oh My Gosh”), and she fantastically offered to swatch the whole range.
Gosh, Oh My Gosh, nail polish

Gosh has recently launched a series of 24 mini nail polishes, which are a permanent addition to their makeup range. The Danish brand is well known in Europe, and is becoming more and more familiar in the U.S. — with good reason. The products are of great quality, highly pigmented, vibrant colours, and very reasonably priced.

The Oh My Gosh collection is no exception. The pretty little polishes are mostly vibrant and fun colours and the quality of the colours is great. All but three perfomed excellently and covered perfectly in two coats or less. The exceptions were Bright Yellow (but yellow nail polish is always difficult) and Purple Rain glitter — which each needed three coats.

The only one that was really bothersome was Light Rose, which is a very pale rose (cream, almost white). It was very streaky, even with four coats, and not a very flattering color on my skin. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Other than that, these polishes are very pretty and work very well. I did a wear test with one of my favorite colors — Pink Red, a bright pink jelly polish — and it lasted five full days on me. That might not sound like much to most of you, but that is excellent wear time for me. As a busy mum I have a very hard time getting any manicure to last more than 3-4 days, even with the best base and top coat.

Oh My Gosh is available at retailers throughout Europe now. In the UK it’s at Superdrug for £2.99. I don’t think they’re available in the U.S. yet, but Gosh promised me these would make their way to Duane Reade in New York.

I really like Red Noir, Cobalt Blue, Brown Grey — and I might pick up Bright Yellow and Orange Splash so I could participate in the Chanel Mimosa/Lippmann Lara’s Theme trends without the high end price tag.

Check out Katja’s post on these polishes for full manicures with her three favorite colors. (Spoiler alert: Bottle Green reminds me of Pop Petrol.)
