Weekly Wishlist

When I tell sales associates what I do, they sometimes ask, “how do you avoid buying EVERYTHING?”  It’s a hilarious and very fair question, and I usually answer (honestly), “I DO fall in love with something new every week.”

Last weekend I had the idea of formalizing these impulses into a weekly wishlist, a roundup of the things I liked best from the previous week. Since this is my first one, I hope you’ll forgive me for stretching back a little further than just one week. Each link will take you back to the original post.

Le Metier de Beaute, Rock and Romance, Nordstrom AnniversaryLe Metier de Beaute’s Rock ‘n’ Romance Set
I got really excited about this set of four polishes (an exclusive for Nordstrom’s anniversary event). All four colors are beautiful, but the inclusion of the holographic grey polish pushed me over the edge.

Laura Mercier, Nordstrom Anniversary, 2011, Classic Chic setLaura Mercier’s Classic Chic Collection
Another Nordstrom anniversary exclusive. What a sensible, lovely, useful set of products! I think I would use every single thing in this set (and I’m sure you’re with me, readers, when I say that’s not usually the case).

Makeup Your Mind Express YourselfNARS Gilda blush
Also, I’d like to hire a full-time makeup artist. And probably acquire a copy of Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself. I got a fantastic makeover from local artist Winnie Pham, and while I’m not sure I’m ready for silver shadow and nude lips on a daily basis, I really loved guava-peach Gilda.

Chanel, fall, 2011, display, Illusions d'OmbresChanel Prelude quad
I know the Illusion d’Ombres shadows are the star of Chanel’s fall collection, but my favorite piece is elegant, neutral Prelude eyeshadow quad. I also love silver-green Khaki Platine liner (for the lower lashline), but I know that not everyone will share my enthusiasm for this light-colored liner.

YSL, Waterproof Eyeliner, swatches, 1, Black Ink, 2, Patent Leather, 3, Ultramarine, 5, Shimmering Burgundy, Simmering Burgundy, 6, Amazon Green, 7, Absinthe Green, KarlaSugar, Karla SugarYSL Waterproof Eyeliners
These swatched like a dream and the colors are incredible. I’m still thinking about them, and telling people about them… so I’m ashamed to say I haven’t yet bought one for a proper, on-eye test drive. My excuse is that I can’t decide between Ultramarine and Amazon Green. (And Absinthe green!)

Those Ysl liners are awesome. Just like the Armani spring ones

I love the look of the Laura Mercier Classic Chic Collection, it’s so simple and yet so pretty! :)

We must be on the same wave length– the LM collection and those nail polishes are the only things that I long for in the Nordstrom Anniv sale– and a Kors handbag. Im kind of dissappointed with BB nordstrom exclusive set! Also, I have a couple of those YSL eyeliners– ultramarine and burgundy– they are so amazing! and my first YSL purchase ever.

I bought the LM set yesterday because of you!!Love it but don’t use primer so I guess I will swap that part. Looked at the nailpolishes from LeMetier but decided not to be tempted…

I got the Rock n Romance set! So glad I did!

I am really liking the looks of the Le Metier Rock n Romance collex. ;)

  • I got the Chanel Prelude Quad and it was everything I had hoped for and more. It is a must-have palette for cool-tones, the shadows stay on all day and the colors are amazing. It’s worth it!
I think I’ll give the YSL eyeliners a try next.

I had the pleasure of running into you about a year ago, having had read your blog but never put the face to the blog until you mentioned Winnie, who has done my makeup at Neimans for almost as long as I can remember! It’s great to have you represent the big d as more than big hair and blue eyeshadow!
