MAC has a ton of new stuff coming out — we’ll have to tackle it one collection at a time. First up: Posh Paradise, which released last Thursday (September 15).
I think MAC’s “Paradise” refers to the Garden of Eden. I get that from the shade names, but don’t you also see an abstracted snake in — oh, let’s call her Eve — Eve’s sweater and hairstyle? This collection features new paint pots, new mattene lipsticks, and two nail polishes, and everything is limited edition.
Paint Pots are MAC’s potted cream shadows, often recommended as a base for powder shadows as well. They’re $17.50 each.
Nubile is a pale, nearly matte, ballerina/morning rose pink. Treasure Hunt is a shimmery pale yellow gold. Genuine Treasure is an earth-brown with pale gold reflects — it’s the only one of the group that contains actual sparkles. Conceptually, it reminds me of Cle de Peau’s fall cream shadow in Night Brown.
Idyllic is a shimmery red burgundy. Pure Creation is a shimmery justice blue. Half-Wild is a low-shimmer orchid plum with tiny red/blue/violet shimmers. Hyperviolet is a very dark, nearly matte, blackened red-plum. Imaginary is gorgeous, a shimmery-satin, very blackened blue-violet.
I made these swatches with my fingertips, though when I wear paint pots, I usually apply them with a flat synthetic “concealer” brush.

In the course of swatching, I found myself discussing the Mattene lipstick formula with a fellow shopper, an Indian woman. She said she loves them because she hates to reapply her lipstick, and likes the way these stay put. She also likes their level of pigmentation/coverage.
The Mattenes are $14.50 each. Delectable is warm pink. Naked Bliss is a cool, greyed blue-pink. Fresh Amour is cool, pale lilac. Potent Fig is dark blue-purple. Eden Rouge is cherry red. Unknown Pleasures is a bricky crimson-rose. Legendary is rum-raisin; lighter, more brown, and more orange than Unknown Pleasures. Seeds of Desire is reddened chocolate. Deliciously Forbidden is blue-rose. Rare Exotic is bright, saturated, cool Barbie pink.
Though these might look glossy in a swatch, they do have a natural-matte finish on the lip.

The two nail polishes are $15 each. Rain of Flowers is a repromote from 2010′s Fall Nail Trend. It’s a dark, dark, dark plum with mostly-blue (some purple) sparkles. Immortal Gold kind of reminds me of Butter London’s Wallis. It’s a dirty, olived gold foil-shimmer.

What are your picks from this collection?

I love the purples in this collection, so beautiful!!
I want Hyperviolet and Naked Bliss!
Uhm.. Probably.. Delectable and Rain of flowers.
I missed out on Rain of Flowers the first time around, so I’ll probably get it now. I might check out Genuine Treasure too, it looks really pretty.
Thanks for all these swatches. I think, the one I would buy is the Rain of Flowers.
Are the Mattene lipsticks permanent?
