4) I also love to do a purple smoky eye for holiday parties – MAC Paint Pot in violet Half-Wild as a base, Urban Decay’s Jet eyeshadow, a blackened purple from The Black Palette patted on top, UD 24/7 Pencil in Zero on my waterlines and a bit of UD Sin on the inner corner of my eyes for a touch of light. Just a little highlighter on my cheekbones (usually Sin again) and a nude lippie, I’m really liking Viva Glam Lady Gaga 2 right now, and I’m set!

5) Another great lippie – CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Embrace #335, a vampy deep purple that does not veer into goth territory. I like to wear it with MAC LiquidLast Liner in Black for a crisp cat eye and bare cheeks with just a touch of highlighter (Boots No.7 Illuminating Lotion) on top of my cheekbones.

The new YSL Faux Cils Shocking mascara makes my lashes longer, fuller, and very black. I could use this for my holiday party makeup instead of wearing falsies.

My favourite go-to look for any big event or holiday function is always a dramatic smokey eye. When you have thin boring lips but nice big brown eyes, it’s a no-brainer what to play up
I traditionally use bronze/brown shades in varying degrees using my favourite MAC eye shadows Brule, Motif, Bronze, Buckwheat, Carbon, Femme-Fi, & Shroom. But in the last couple of years I’ve had my hair coloured an intense dark/medium copper-red, which just screams to dig into my green shadow stash. So last Xmas I broke out my neglected MAC Fresh Green Mix – lighter side on the lid (foiled of course) and darker mixed side on the crease, with Humid on the outer V, and Rock & Republic’s Ambition (pale gold iridescence) as the highlight. My goodness was it ever a striking combination! Loved it, and got several compliments from the Mr.’s family to boot (that never happens!). I’m consequently planning on repeating the look this year, and adding in a little microfine gold and chartreuse green glitter to kick it up a notch (raiding my Ben Nye stash for that!). Nothing like blingy green eyes and vibrant red hair to say HELLO CHRISTMAS!
