Not to be outdone by Nordstrom, MAC freestanding stores have TWO exclusive Face Kits. These are also $59.50 each, containing a compact (four shadows, one blush), a lipstick, a gloss, three brushes (129 blush brush, 275 angled eyeshadow brush, and 266 angled eyeliner brush), and a makeup bag.
The MAC store Face Kits are called the Fabulously Festive Face Kits, and your two color options are Warm and Wintercool.
I think the four shadows in Wintercool are my favorite quartet. Phloof! (a Frost, and a repromoted permanent shade) is frosty white-pink. Brun (Satin, another permanent shade) is cool dark brown. Quarry (Matte, also a permanent shade) is a dusty, muted, pinked purple. Dance in the Dark (Matte) is also a dark, cool brown. It’s darker than Brun, and Brun has a satin/matte finish, whereas Dance in the Dark is really matte.
The palette also contains Mocha, one of MAC’s permanent shades (previously swatched here), and one of their most confusingly named blushes. It’s a pretty warm pink (not the color you’d associate with “mocha”).
The set also includes cool rose Cremesheen lipstick Hot Gossip (a permanent shade), and limited edition warm white-pink strawberry-milk Lipglass Emancipation (the shade was last seen in Wonder Woman, but this version looks paler/whiter. Did I make a swatching mistake?).
In the Warm Face Kit we find Golden Flurry (Lustre), a pale ballet white-pink with a slight golden duochrome shimmer. Soft Brown (Matte) is a repromote, a muted peach-orange matte. Omega (Matte) is also a repromote, an oatmeal taupe. And then there’s Carbon (Matte). Carbon is a permanent shade, repromoted all the time because it’s MAC’s go-to matte black (Venomous Villains, Mickey Contractor, Tartan Tale). I feel slightly frustrated every time it comes around because the shade is chalky.
The blush in this palette is limited edition, a nude peach matte called Seasonal Appeal.
The set also includes red-coral Mellowarm (Frost) and muted desert peach-salmon Join the Party lipglass.
I think this is my most desired Face Kit. I just love the lips (and there’s a limited edition blush!). I’m also telling myself that the shadows are good solid neutrals… and I almost have myself convinced. Somebody hide my wallet.
