Of all the MAC holiday giftsets, I thought I’d better swatch the face kits first. They’re such a good deal, I think they’re going to be the first things to go.
The Festive Frost face kit is exclusive to Nordstrom (and of course, Nordstrom.com now offers free shipping and free returns at any price). It’s $59.50, and includes a lipstick, a lipglass, three brushes (129 blush brush, 275 angled eyeshadow brush, and 266 angled eyeliner brush), and a compact containing four shadows and a blush.
All holiday compacts this year are adorned with a flattened plastic dome filled with liquid and silver glitter (a kind of snowglobe). The face palette compacts open (traditional hinged lid) to reveal the four shadows, then slide to reveal the blush below.

Once Upon a Time (Veluxe Pearl, previously seen in last holiday’s Tartan Tale) is a frosty rose-beige champagne. Below Zero (Frost) is a slightly chalky shimmery red brown. Expensive Pink (Veluxe Pearl, a permanent shade) is an intense, frosty coral-pink with a gold shimmer reflect. Embark (Matte, also a permanent shade) is a dark, earthy, chocolatey brown — warm, but not quite as red as Below Zero.
Buff (heavier swatch here) is a matte blush, and a permanent shade for MAC. It’s a light nude peach that’s one of my own favorite “can’t go wrong” shades.
Imagine This is an Amplified Creme lipstick, a medium peach-beige. The color actually did appear once before, in the Fabulous Fantasy Tartan Tale lip palette.
Tra-La-La lipglass is caramel tan with multicolored sparkles.

I am really loving everything in this collection
I bought the winter cool one! I’m loving it. The pocket (silver disk on bag) is neat and I love the snow globe on the front of the palette!
I like Tra-la-la lipglass.
Thanks for swatching this kit. I think I’m going to buy this one.
Karla, is it just the swatch, or is this Expensive Pink completely different from the permanent one? Mine is a peachy-pink with gold, this is almost hot pink… so confused here.
