Poppy King is having quite a moment. In addition to her own successful line (Lipstick Queen), she’s recently launched collaborations with Kate Spade, J.Crew, and Boots.
Meanwhile, J.Crew catalogs have long featured fantastic, easy, happy, preppy-chic, life-is-good makeup (and I’ve often wished that they would provide credits/makeup breakdowns). I think the company finally realized that they had created — but not yet tapped — a market for their taste in cosmetics. And I wonder if this lipstick is just the first piece of a more robust line from them.

Most of the early press I read about this lipstick described it as an orange-red, which was misleading. While it is a warm shade, I’d describe it as a sheer strawberry-red (a pink red). It reminds me a bit of MAC’s Viva Glam Cyndi. Like all lipsticks from Poppy King, the J.Crew shade is unscented.
The J.Crew lipstick is $18, and though it is currently sold out online, my understanding is that the shade is intended to be permanently available.

Karla, Thanks for the swatches! I HOPE it will be perm, I have been told by a couple of SA’s they will not be getting it in again and I really wanted it!!
I have this and love it. I also plan n Supercalifragilipstick in Bashful Beige, also a Poppy King mash-up…
