Guest Swatcher: Butter London Nail Foundation Basecoat

Today’s guest swatches come from AlexandraRC. If you don’t already read her blog regularly, you are missing out. She has perfect hands, impeccable nails, flawless manicures, and she is wildly creative. Oh, and she takes fantastic pictures of holographic nail polishes, which is extremely hard to do. But I’m rambling.

A few weeks ago, I posted pictures of Deborah Lippmann’s Supermodel. Though I love the jelly orangey-red, I knew some folks might be turned off by the resulting VNL (Visible Nail Line).

Of course, VNL is a persistent problem with sheer polishes — but AlexandraRC has found what looks like the perfect solution.

Butter London’s Nail Foundation base coat is a ridge-filling nude basecoat. It’s just opaque enough to cover VNL, but it won’t change the color of the polish you put on top of it. Looking at this photo, I’m sold.

Nail Foundation is $18 for .6 ozicon (Butter London lacquers are $14 for .4 oz).

I love this base coat. I’ve tried Zoya Anchor but the color doesn’t hold as well for me as Butter London’s Foundation. It’s odd too because Butter London’s polish chips on me after a day or two but if I use their base coast with Rescue Beauty, Lippmann or China Glaze I get a full week chip free. Go figure right?

I’m on my second bottle and it’s the best basecoat ever. It looks great worn alone, too. Worth every penny!
