Guest Swatcher: MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation

This week of MAC goodness comes courtesy of professional makeup artist (and fellow blogger) Lauren Clark. Lauren does it all: excellent swatches, glamorous “face of the day” photos, makeup lessons — on top of her lengthy list of commercial and private clients.

Along with the debut of the new Mineralize Rich lipstick, MAC just launched a new Mineralize Moisture foundation. They don’t say so specifically, but I think the two formulas have some technology in common. According to MAC, Mineralize Moisture foundation is lightweight and perfect for dry skin (c’est moi).

The new, satin-finish foundation is $33, comes in 18 shades (NC 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 37, 40, 42, 44, 45, 50, and NW 20, 25, 30, 35, 43, 45, 50), and contains SPF 15, as well as shea butter and vitamin E. Both Nordstromicon and MACcosmetics.com offer free shipping at any price, no code required.

Lauren did an amazing job swatching almost every shade of the new foundation, along with helpful comparisons to other MAC foundations.

The NC shades actually look cool-toned. I usually wear NW15-20, but I wasn’t going to try this since there’s no NW15 and in most of their newer foundations, NW20 is too yellow (the newer SFF shades are still quite yellow on me — I’m very cool-toned), but NC20 or even NC25 looks perfect!

Wow. Those are a LOT of shades. I’m pretty new at makeup (yes I’m 26 and only started wearing “serious” makeup this year) so these shades are a bit…daunting.

I guess I’ll need to ask advice from a salesperson before I actually buy a few bottles of liquid foundation or BB cream.

My standard is Chanel but thought I would try this – price is right and I have dry skin – I am normally NW25 – I took NC20 – NC25 was too dark and NW 25 didn’t look good at all-too yellow. I use the pro concealer in NW 25 – I was surprised to go w/NC but it works and it is feels very light on the skin – think i am loving it – Sorry Chanel – half the price.

Just realized this am when I flipped over the bottle that i have it backwards-I took NC 25 and my concealer is NW 20

Hi, I use Studio Fix NW55 but do the makers of the swatches here not make an equivalent to NW55? I didn’t see that swatched here. Thanks!

I just got this foundation which launched last month in my country. I love it! NCs are usually too yellow and NWs too pink/grey for me. (The closest I have to finding a match is Diorskin Forever in 023, which has a peach – not yellow or pink – undertone.) But NC25 in MAC Mineralize Moisture is perfect on my skin. Using this, I look like I’m not wearing any makeup at all! My other HG (in terms of texture and shade match) is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B20, which is lightweight but can still dry quite matte on skin.
