When you’re placing an order online, you want as much information as humanly possible about your intended purchase. As far as I know, it’s no longer possible to check out Rock & Republic in person (they were pulled from Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom), so now we (myself included) are REALLY dependent on the kindness of swatchers.

Rock & Republic does turn up on the “sale” sites (like Hautelook) with some frequency, and since it’s an amazing deal on some really excellent products, I wanted to expand on my offering of R&R swatches-so-far.

So I turned to friend and blush connoisseur Gobraves47 — a woman of impeccable taste. I know she’s an R&R blush fan, and she very kindly offered these swatches of her collection:

Welcome to day 2 of the Rock & Republic powder blushes! These pigmented beauties come in the same style of heavy, ornate compact as the eyeshadows — though they’re quite a bit larger. At .32 oz., you might never run out of blush.

Seduce is a shimmery, glisteny, sparkly rose-bronze or mauvey-brown with pink sparkles. Call Me is pink-peach with gold sparkles, much like NARS Orgasm. Bedroom is a matte guava pink; All Nighter is a sparkly, nearly fluorescent red-coral (not quite as dark and red as NARS Taos).

Rock & Republic blushes are $40, available at select Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale locations, as well as online.

R&R blushes remind me most of NARS: they are pigmented and have naughty names. R&R blushes are also huge, weighing in at .32 oz. (twice the size of a NARS blush). Click here to compare with NARS shades.

Spank is a matte, cool pink; Foreplay is matte peach; Lust is a sparkly red with gold; Shameless is a sparkly reddened brown with gold. Rock & Republic blushes are $40, available at select Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale locations, as well as online.

Today we have the last eight of Rock & Republic’s new eyeshadows. I can’t help thinking of these as the “rock” shades. If you are more glam than I, these are just the shades for you.

My favorites from this group are (predictably) Asphalt and Tempting. The sales associate I was talking to said (anecdotally) that her best sellers were Spy, Skintight, Affair, Carat, Lost, Lawsuit, Nailed, and Tempting — I can definitely see why.

Rock & Republic eyeshadows are $28 each, available at select Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdale locations. They come in three finishes: Shimmer, Satin, and Matte (high shimmer, low shimmer, and no shimmer). They are also jet-milled for a smooth, creamy texture.

Fade is a very blue grey (medium shimmer)

Tempting is a fantastic shimmery purply grey (high shimmer)

Paranoid is a matte fuchsia (like MAC’s Creme de Violet)

Twisted is a luminous blue-purple that reflects blue (medium shimmer)

Nailed is a super shimmery charcoal (high shimmer)

Asphalt is a matte warm (brown) grey, sort of like MAC’s Concrete

Lawsuit is a totally cool dark brown that reflects green/blue-green; sort of the same idea as MAC Club (medium shimmer)

Fatalistic is matte black

R&R eyeshadow: Fade, Tempting, Paranoid, Twisted, Nailed, Asphalt, Lawsuit, Fatalistic

I admit, I wouldn’t know how to use these shades to their best advantage, but I still think they’re gorgeous and I knew as I was swatching them that they’d excite a whole passel of you artistic types. Also, if you’re participating in Neiman Marcus’s promotion (spend $100 on R&R cosmetics, get a full-size Emerge eyeshadow free), you can finally see what that lovely shade looks like.

I would call today’s swatches the “earth” shades (see the Earth, Wind & Fire joke that’s about to happen?).

Originally a jetsetting denim brand, Rock & Republic’s cosmetics line launched in September of 2008 with 116 products in 10 categories. R&R eyeshadows come in three different finishes: Shimmer, Satin, and Matte (high shimmer, low shimmer, and no shimmer). Each eyeshadow is $28, and comes in an ornate mirrored compact. You can find Rock & Republic Cosmetics in Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom.

Jaded is a very iridescent blue-green that makes me think of Monet’s waterlilies (high shimmer)

Envy is a very iridescent blackened green with lots of green sparkle… like a grunge emerald (high shimmer)

Hangover is a yellow-green brown (medium shimmer)

Chronic is a very iridescent forest green (high shimmer)

Snakeskin is a very grey, cool, green brown (the kind of complex neutral I cannot resist; medium shimmer)

Welcome to day 2 of Rock & Republic Week, as we go through the line’s 48 eyeshadows. Yesterday we looked at neutrals; today, “fire colors.” You know my love of neutral eyeshadows, and the color and fabulous texture of some of the browns reminded me of my favorite shades from Dior iridescent quints.

As with the shades we looked at yesterday; R&R eyeshadows fall into one of three categories of shimmer (high, low, and none), reflecting one of three finishes: Shimmer, Satin, and Matte. Each eyeshadow is $28, and comes in an ornate mirrored compact. You can find Rock & Republic Cosmetics in Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom.

Carat is a shimmery oyster-gold, paler — or more white — than Ambition (high shimmer)

Ambition is a more yellowy oyster-gold (reminded me of Smashbox’s Oyster; high shimmer)

Fuel is a shimmery, very yellow gold (high shimmer)

Scorch is a shimmery fire-orange, or red-orange (medium shimmer)

Wrath is a very warm, dark red-brown (medium shimmer)

Ammo is a very shimmery, warm, medium red-brown (high shimmer)

Exile is a very shimmery, warm, medium gold-brown (high shimmer)

Vintage is a matte, neutral-warm brown, warmer than Diffused because it contains more yellow
