Very special thanks to Jen, who so kindly guest swatched her Stila Color Wheel palette ($38, limited edition). I confess, I was totally curious about this one, knowing Stila’s reputation for great eyeshadow… but would I really use all the shades? Here’s her review and swatches:

I’d say 3/4 of the eyeshadows in this palette are smooth. I wouldnt go so far as to call any of them buttery, but I have a problem with buttery formulas fading and turning muddy anyway.
There are only a few mattes and those are pretty chalky. I think the shimmer shadows give it more of a “wow” factor.
It seems like this palette was Stila’s attempt to outdo the Urban Decay Naked palette: add some more colors, make it pretty enough to give as a gift, and they probably figured they had all their bases covered.
The only “duds” were the purples… they were all disappointments as far as pigmentation is concerned. The greens are gorgeous, the neutrals are very neutral. The blues and browns are beautiful and vivid.

Thanks! I was wondering about this palette.
Nice shades! I just don’t like how it is all laid out.
Those do look really pretty. And while I do like a lot of the shades, I think I’ll stick with UD Naked; most blues, greens, and anything cool toned look really bad one me, and I wouldn’t want to buy something that has a large portion of products I would never use.
You can always count on Karla Sugar to come up with an ingeniously organized way of swatching something as difficult as a round palette.
I find that there is always a LOT of fallout from Stila shadows, so even tho’ the colors are beautiful, I don’t like to use them on clients. Would you say that’s better with this palette?
I’m officially regretting not buying this palette after seeing these swatches. I had so many opportunities to get this for under $20 and passed it up. Stupid. Gorgeous greens & blues, decent browns. I really don’t like either of the Naked palettes at all, but I assumed that this palette would pale in comparison to Stila’s single pan shadows without the compacts. Which I love. Big mistake. This one wouldve been perfect for me
Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll be able to find one on eBay or Amazon.
