Here’s an exciting piece of new makeup news from Clinique: Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm. These twist-up glossy lip crayons provide a sheer tint to the lips, plus they contain mango and shea butter for moisture. They’re $15 each (gotta love Clinique pricing), and they come in 8 colors.

Richer Raisin is a sheer, warm (rosy/orangey) brown. Whole Lotta Honey is a sheer, browned, mauvey pink. I would normally call this color “fig.” Â Fuller Fig is deeper and rosier. Mega Melon is warm rose. Chunky Cherry is a sheer reddened strawberry. Woppin Watermelon is a cool, medium pink, and it really bothers me that they spelled “whoppin’” without the H. Super Strawberry is a sheer raspberry (cool rose). Graped-Up is a purpley rosy-brown.
I tried on Chunky Cherry — it was a sassy, pretty, sheer red. Â More color than it looked like on my arm, but not outside my comfort zone. Â (Cherry and Melon were my two favorite shades.) Â The product didn’t have a scent, and felt comfortable enough at first, but as it dried/faded away, my lips really feathered. Â I haven’t heard complaints from anyone else — everybody seems to love these — so maybe it’s just me. Â There could be an ingredient I’m sensitive to.
Just for fun, I also tried sheering one of these out with my fingers. Â It sheered out nicely, and I kind of wonder if they could double as blush, in a pinch.
Compared to the Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencils, these (1) colors aren’t as bold, (2) don’t require sharpening, and (3) are slightly cheaper. But I don’t get that drying/feathering with my Lipstick Queen pencil.

You’re not the only one! It happens to me, too, which made me really sad. I thought I was the only one
I wanted them to work! They’re really like the Tarte ones…I get the same drying/feathering effect with those.
Hi, may I know how many layers do you have to swipe on your hands to get that kind of colouring? I’ve tried on my lips a couple of layers for Wopping Watermelon but the colour is really, really sheer! Kinda disappointed in that! And how I wish we get all 8 shades here in Malaysia, we only have 4 shades of those here
Clinique’s lipsticks are great, but personally I’m not at all in love with their pricing. Where I live each lipstick is sold for 20€ (about $27.5). It’s not that I mind paying that much money for a lipstick, I just don’t understand why it’s so much more expensive than in the US (which is by far a much richer country).
Unfortunately I’m with Marta on this one, on this side of the pond Clinique is a very pricy brand, and to give that kind of money for a tinted balm… meeehhh… I’m a Clinique lover otherwise but not excited about these at all. Maybe I’ll change my mind if I pass by a counter
I’m hoping to try these duty free (Clinique is also quite expensive in Australia). Wonder if they’d have minis?
Would also like to compare to the superbalm gloss - a lot of the colour names seem familiar.
