Le Metier de Beaute Dualistic Eye Pencil

Le Metier doesn’t make an eyeshadow base, per se. But every LMdB makeover I’ve seen begins with the application of a Dualistic Eye Pencil to the eyelid.

The Dualistic Eye Pencils contain an ingredient called Nylon 12, which enables the formula to stretch and move with your eyelid (preventing creasing or flaking). It’s what enables these super-blendable pencils to perform as eyeshadow base.

We’ve talked before about couches de couleur, Le Metier’s method of layering shades one on top of another, all on the lid space from lashline to crease. Before you start with the shadows, draw a series of short strokes on your eyelid with one of these pencils (they really don’t tug). You’ll be able to finger-blend it into a smooth base for your shadows.
Le Metier de Beaute, LMdB, Dualistic Eye Pencil, swatches, Champagne, Tamarack, Sequoia, Noir, KarlaSugar, Karla Sugar
Champagne (not champagne at all) is a sheeny, chocolate-milk/stone brown taupe. Tamarack (a favorite of artist Ivan Castro, who likes to layer even light shadow over a darker base) is shimmery warm brown. Sequoia is a sheeny, slightly darker, slightly cooler brown (no sparkle). Noir is sheeny black.

Dualistic eyeliners are $36 each.

Champagne is my favorite eyeliner pencil ever. I find myself reaching for it almost daily. I kind of wish LMdB would come out with more colors. I’m envisioning a khaki one.. ah well, I can dream.

  • I love the Champagne! It is the perfect neutral and looks like it would be great under many different colors!

Wow, I ADORE the Champagne color and could see it being a go-to, but I’m choking on the idea of spending $36 for an eyeliner pencil! Are there any dupes out there on the market that might be less $$$?
