This summer Le Metier de Beaute teamed up with Neiman Marcus’s fashion director and senior vice president Ken Downing to create “Ken’s Korals,” orange-red lipstick “Kissable Koral” and orange-red nail polish “Kontagious Koral” (which were sold separately).
Thrilled by the success of their summer collaboration, they decided to work their magic again for a second season. Ken predicts that “wine” is the color for fall, and — together with LMdB — has created three lip-and-nail duos on that theme. The nail polishes are in the larger “Ken-sized” bottles, and each duo is $49. Naturally, these sets are exclusive to Neiman Marcus.
The Red My Lips duo includes lipstick Red My Lips (a cherry-berry-wine) and nail polish Gypsy Rose Me (a beet-red with pink and magenta-violet shimmers).
The Vintage Ken duo includes I’m Worn This Way (a smoked red-purple, black-cherry) lipstick and Vintage Ken nail polish (rich purple creme).
The Bodacious Bordeaux duo includes Wine on the Vine lipstick (a sheer, maraschino cherry red. It’s the lightest of these three lipcolors, but — on my lips — still too dark and berry-ish for my tastes). Bodacious Bordeaux nail polish is my one of my favorite shades for fall: a semi-sheer claret, a classic cranberry/wine creme.
The lipsticks are a new formula for Le Metier, a “Moisture Lipstain.” How are they different from Color Core lipsticks? Well they do seem more sheer (though if you’re fair and wearing deep colors, it’s kind of a moot point). They have a balmy, comforting feel — the formula doesn’t have a lot of “slip”. And they’re not particularly staining.
Do these duos put you in a fall state of mind? Which one is your favorite?
