Bobbi Brown Tortoiseshell Collection

Bobbi Brown, Tortoiseshell Collection, Tortoise Shell, displayBobbi Brown’s fall Tortoise Shell collection (inspired by her own tortoiseshell glasses) just arrived on counters and at (free shipping at $65, free Crystal Lip Gloss with code GLOSS11, free Glitter Lip Gloss in Buff with code BUFF11, free Lip Color in Tea Rose with code TEA11).

The collection includes two tortoiseshell eyeshadow palettes (each $60, with 8 shadows). The compact opens to reveal the top four shades, and a drawer slides forward to reveal the second four.

There are also two new limited edition Rich Lip Color SPF 12 lipsticks (my new favorite formula) — $22 each. The third lipstick you see in the display is Bare Pink. And there are three High Shimmer Lipglosses (also $22 each).

Finally, the collection includes an adorable cigarette-case-style mini brush set ($55).

The display also holds Lash Glamour mascara (repromote) and Caviar gel eyeliner (repromote).

OMG! Thank you for the swatches! =)

  • Ava says:

How did you get the colors in the Bronze palette to apply so darkly and opaquely (is that a word?)? They look more sheer on me even over UD primer. Thanks!

  • LOVE The look of both palettes! My fave would be he sand one though. Could be great fro brides =)

  • I’m liking this collection. I’ll definitely get the Bronze palette.

  • Ria says:

Hi Karla, would you say that the Rich Lip Color in Soft Nude is lighter than the Rich Lip Color in Heather Pink which came out when the lipsticks launched? I have Heather Pink but it is too dark for me!

  • becca says:

Thanks for these swatches – how is the texture/pigmentation of the Sand palette? Thank you!! xx

  • diann_co says:

    LOVE!!!Thanks so much!!

  • jbrobeck says:

Thanks for the Swatches, KS!!! What do you think of the brushes, as far as length is concerned? Are they similar the MAC SE brushes from holiday sets (in terms of size)?

  • susan says:

Couldn’t resist – bought the Sand palette yesterday. I would say pigmentation is same as other BB shadows, although I’ve only used three colors so far :) @jbrobeck – not a MAC expert, but I thought this brush set was small – I would estimate maybe 4 or 5 inches max.

  • Thanks for the swatches! I just ordered the Bronze Palette today – I’m a 3.5 in Luminous and a 4 in the stick foundation, so I’m sorta in-between.

  • Marcey says:

The sand palette is very enticing …. I’ve never worn Bobbi Brown but there’s always a first time!

  • polarbelle says:

which kind of applicator did the glosses have? the brush? or the sponge? The most recent BB gloss I got in spring had sponge, so I was curious. thanks.

  • KarlaSugar says:

Ava, I applied these shadows with sponge tipped applicators (which apply the color more heavily than brushes).

MakeupbyThess, I really liked Sand, too.

Ria, excellent question about Soft Nude vs. Heather Pink. Soft Nude seems slightly softer/lighter/less intense/less saturated/less purple… will you have a chance to try it on before you buy? I’ll try to swatch these two side-by-side.

Becca, texture and pigmentation of the Sand palette was lovely. Go for it!

jbrobeck, this blush brush is about an inch shorter than my MAC short handled blush brush. 1/4 inch of that difference is bristle length, 3/4 of an inch in handle length.

polarbelle, the glosses have a doe’s foot applicator. They’re also a different tube (slightly longer, more like Chanel’s Glossimers). The neck is also wide enough to accommodate a disposable wand.

I was considering getting one of the palettes, but after seeing your swatches – I could probably only use half or less of the shades from either one – the rest are too warm for me. Oh well, my wallet thanks you ;-)

  • wendy says:

I have a silly question.. I love the look of the eyeshadows.. They r soo cute!
But I already have UD naked palette and also NYX bohemmian 10 colours palette.. Means naked colours in both warm and cool tone are all covered.. And I also own hundreds of the other shadows…frankly I am probably never going to finish any f them!
Do u think it is still worthy to get this one too?

  • Valerie C. says:

Very nice! I’m buying :) I love the Soft Nude l/s and Sand palette!

  • Natasha says:

Very excited to see Desert Sand, it looks like a very good dupe for NARS cyprus! Thank you.

  • Lisa says:

Thank you for putting so much time into this! I had been seriously considering either palette; however, now that I’ve seen all the colors “in action” I know to save my money. Many thanks!

  • Oh Karla, what your swatches do to me is unholy.
